Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Any chance to volunteer?

I am on my way out of SAP as it is - I have to move in a few months for family reasons. Not sure if I'm on the list, but if I'm not, if there is a way for me to volunteer (and maybe take the place of somebody who doesn't want to leave) it'd be good to know.

I'm just not sure how to say I want to be laid off without saying I'm leaving anyhow (and pretty much insuring they wait me out.)

You'd be putting a target on your back. Just move on if you are ready, dont tell them anything - I've had to deal with SAP HR a couple of times, and as expected they are here to protect SAP and the worker's interests are secondary. Dont talk to anyone, just move on.

I wouldn't 'volunteer'. SAP has no interest in paying people money to leave when they were going to leave anyway.

Are your manager and your local HRBP aware of your plans to move in a few months? If so, then I would recommend approaching them about volunteering. If not, then you need to have the discussion with your manager ASAP....and that might lead to a discussion about how that might fit into the current planning.
