Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

That Mark Reuss wasn’t made CEO is a travesty and squelched what enthusiasm remained amongst the True Believers.

Reuss would be the worst possible choice for CEO.

He has done nothing meaningful with his career other than ride the coattails of his father and try to maintain as much of the old-GM good old boys club as possible. Somehow, despite a lack of talent, and despite a lack of meaningful accomplishments, he managed to ride his way almost to the top. He cares about himself and building an empire of yes-men and nothing more.

Best discussion on the thread. I have a feeling and have felt for about a year he would be named CEO eventually , my gut. Considering the heat Barra is getting , perhaps sooner than later for Mark. Could be part of the divine plan.

Did anyone else notice that since December, Mark's smiling pic has replaced Mary's in the up right corner of Socrates home page every day while she is nowhere to be found. He could be just taking some heat for the team or the company signaling the heir apparent to the throne.

Agreed something else is afoot. This is all a plot for share price boost and hand-wringing hopes of a buyout/merger. Of course with a tech company - not another auto company. GM probably courted Apple and Google and were told to “get your stage price up to 50 quickly and we’ll think about it. GM’s ROIC (%) for consumer/connected services towers over the ROIC for any of its vehicles - including trucks. Get out of the brick and mortar car business altogether and/or move all production offshore to cheap labor markets (like the tech companies do).

Unfortunately I feel the outcome would have been the exact same regardless of who or what sits in the ivory tower , to let this many people go I have reason to believe that bigger things are a foot , I smell a Merger ? I could be completely wrong , what do you guys think about it , I'd like to know?
