Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Are all QMTs gone?

When I stopped by at the Sears I used to work at up until about a year ago, I talked with one of my old co-workers still working there and they said that store support was doing a lot of what the QMT used to do, including repairs (unless it was electrical or plumbing, then they would hire a contractor) because apparently all of the QMTs were fired. Supposedly store support is 100% responsible for groundskeeping (mowing). Is this true for all stores/districts of is it just some stores?

Also heard that the janitorial service was reduced to one day a week in my old store and that the managers are responsible for the restrooms. When I asked how vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, trash removal or window cleaning ever got done, it was just for one day a week or if needed, an associate is supposed to do those tasks.

To be perfectly honest , our QMT crew became consumed by store enhancements , That is not what you hire a maintenance crew for . Management used us to further their own agendas, to use us to both create window dressing for their careers , and to use our talents to downsize full time employees in the store .

Many of us rode the gravy train until it was time to leave for better paying jobs .

A few decided to stick it out .

Glad I didn't stay to get shortchanged in the end . Best of luck to those that stayed .

When my store was still opened we had a QMT, but he would come when needed for certain jobs. When store was closing it was probably the week I think I last saw him if I am not wrong.

Like nwn said, we also still had a daily cleaning crew. Hell they started stealing all the leftover tools out of the QMT room once liquidation started.

We also have the cleaning crew on a daily basis in our Sears store. We also have a Sears employee coming to our store and doing repairs on a regular basis as well.

QMTs were laid off about 3 months ago. We still had the cleaning crew on a daily basis but once they left for the day management became responsible for restrooms, mopping, etc.
