Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Curious to see who will get hired after this

I have to believe that there will be new hirings after the layoffs, cause it would be impossible to deal with all of the work. We were working on 110% as it is and now nearly half of my team got cut. I wonder who will they hire and will the rest of us, who weren’t cut yet end up training our replacements?

Nobody with a lick of common sense would want to come here.

This place will be stained in the Austin Tech community.

I suspect they'll contract in IT when Randy can't deliver his next widget, "Innovation" projects run late, or there's a major outage. I can honestly see a move to an outsourced IT infrastructure model to save money.

Meanwhile, my team hasn't had steady work in a while even though we just recently brought on new employees... They don't even get a chance to vest.

Just remember to all future contract. Never support GM products. You might be laid off the following week of hire.

It would be contract. The mandate is always 80% salary, 20% contract. They had to go through contract to get to the bloated salary count.

In time the door for contract will open again.
