Surprised nobody has posted about the list that was provided to the people who were let go. This list provides the age and employees (no names) and the age of the person that was let go. Has anyone seen that list also?

Can confirm - I’ve seen a partial list as well and it’s titled:
General Motors
Executive Director: blank
Job Titles and Ages calculated as of February 4, 2019
Four columns:
Director
Strategic/Functional Group
Job Title
Age
And it wouldn't be a complete list, just a list of those in comparable positions (again, what you would sue over).
They are likely giving them to those aged 40 and over - those eligible to bring an age discrimination claim under Michigan law.
Where is this list ? And why did only some receive it?
True, yes. The list had the job title and person's birthdate on it. This is how I could tell who would be left on the list and still be let go. It also shows the job title of people on the list that would not be let go. Tells me that after one more person that wasn't in yesterday, they are done with our group.
The list I received appeared to be for everyone under the director to whom you ultimately reported. Broken into group who every one reported to - listened generic job titles, functional areas where applicable and the ages - there were two lists one had the people being separated and one had the people being retained.
In my case I found it to not have shown much of any bias by age, however the biggest problem was that it was easy to figure out who a number of other people were on that list who were either not yet called down to the conference rooms or were not at work yesterday.
I was the oldest on my team, and the only male, and the most productive by far. The only one to receive exceeds for 3 years running.
Would be great if someone scanned the list, posted to Google Docs and provided a link.
What is the average age from the list? I will bet it is <40 years old.
In my area it was all non-people managers who were level 8 or higher. That was the only factor used.
What area are you in?

Legal has spent hundreds of hours analyzing the plan before executing it so I doubt a class action lawsuit would even fly. While there were probably people who deserved to be let go, there were probably even more that became collateral damage as GM had to throw different age groups into the mix to say "'See, we aren't engaging in ageist practices!"
This list of ages within a specific job category is required per federal law - ADEA. If they do not follow specific procedures then they are subject to litigation. A class action lawsuit in the case of a lay-off this massive would put a serious dent in the billions of dollars they hope to save.
My list had names on it.
I personally know a few people under 25 that were let go in Austin
It's some federal law that they notify ages. The list will not be a line for each person but probably a spreadsheet with each age and the number of males or females let go that were that age. Previous poster said 26 was the youngest...can anyone verify that?
@XtGc2Yk-zju Best guess is to prevent people from claiming age discrimination.
Why would they provide this list?
Was the list based on location or org? I wouldn't assume they would give out a list with 4,000+ people on it.
Yup. and it p-ss-d me off.
Saw it as well. I was the youngest at 26 - 6A
