Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Tomorrow: Canada / Oshawa Engineering Campus

Saw this in a thread, not my post:

  • Not much happening up in Canada today.

  • I work in engineering and as far as I know our Oshawa and Markham Technical Centers were not affected.

  • Have no idea about what if anything went down at our headquarters in Oshawa (finance, purchasing, legal, marketing, sales, etc..).

  • We heard of the ax falling in Warren, MI today and feel for our colleagues there.

  • Apparently tomorrow is our turn as HR have several conference rooms booked for the entire day at our Oshawa engineering campus.

Yeah it was me (or I?) that posted this as a response to another thread (thanks to OP for posting as its own thread). Everyone is on pins and needles in Engineering up in Canada at both of our campuses in Oshawa, ON and Markham, ON. It probably is the same for our remaining assembly plants (Ingersoll, ON; St. Catharines, ON; the soon to be shuttered Oshawa, ON) and other locations (Cold Weather Development Center - Kapuskasing,ON; Woodstock Parts Distribution Center - Woodstock, ON; Canadian Headquarters - Oshawa, ON and others.. sorry if I missed any of our Canadian colleagues). It is what it is and I am ready for it!

employees within the IT org were severely cut today in Canada - only a few essential "to keep the lights on" employees left in IT
