Hearing rumors that the HDE and HDI programs will be discontinued. Can anyone confirm that this is true?

I have worked for HDI for 5 years and it is the best job I have ever had. The comments on here about poor quality is completely false and sounds so out of line that it must be malicious from disgruntled employees. Take it as you may ,but I would remember that most happy customers or employees do not go online to speak about how happy they are. Only people that are mad for some reason. Hmmm
Something else is going on now. Current HDE SP noticing oddities in operations. Does anyone know what is going on now with HDE & HDI?
hdi sub contracter here boston area things have slowed down since summer slower now oct something not right 5 years on the job
Getting in on this a bit late, as I just found this discussion. I worked as a Project Specialist (lead generator) for HDI in the Denver area. 2nd to worst job I have ever had, and I've had lots of jobs, as I'm older. Bad managers who didn't know how to do their jobs, wouldn't respond to us when we needed help with problems. We were basically ignored.
In addition, lots of software, time clock, payroll and benefits problems. Spent so much time dealing with all this c-ap that it really cut into my actual work time.
Plus, the work culture in the stores was terrible - retail associates snitching on each other and being catty and gossipy.
And I don't trust HDI cabinet refacing - cheap glued-on laminate on the fronts that peels off in 3 months, and LOTS of install problems.
I don't trust HDI nor HD. I won't even shop there.
This is the worst scenario for the sales reps that home depot didn't let go..... in the decision to stick to just windows getting rid of the roofing etc we the sales reps are left trying to live on half of our income and the company hasn't done anything to soften the blow to their so called valued employees, who does that!
This is a nightmare
My friend was laid off and was an HDE sales rep, commission only. He looked through his severance packet and sees nothing about a 2 month severance compensation. I breifly looked through it as well, and saw nothing regarding this. He also called HR, and the HR rep said they didn't know what they were going to do yet. To those who have stated that there is a 2 month package and an additional month for signing a legal waiver, where did you get this info please?

Home Depot is a bunch of scam artist, they sell there re-facing of cabinets as being cheaper than new cabinets. The cabinets are junk that they scam the customer into thinking will last forever. They use water glue on flakey particular board . They promise doors won’t peel and everyone of the fronts or sides falls off the cabinets. It is a bet on which one will fall off first the door skin or the laminate. Then they bill the customer after a few years and tell them it is no longer warranty. I heard one of the managers tell the poor lady that she can’t use her coffee pot because it will loosen up her re-facing.Big box store that just fleeces consumers and the states let them get away with doing this to customers.
If anyone is looking to join a great team I am looking for installers in the DMV (DC/Maryland/Virginia) area for Roofing, Gutters, Siding, Windows/Doors.

I have been with HDE for about 18 months and was just laid off as many of you have. I feel sorry for all that have lost their jobs. I agree with many of the above comments, however;
. HDE was a difficult job because of a lot of driving (with no reimbursement) and limited commissions, but
. I also feel that the salary continuation and final compensation are VERY generous. I will earn more in the next two months than I did monthly last year
. be aware though that if you accept a position in the store before your 60th day of termination, you will lose ALL salary continuation and compensation.
..why would any one want to do that???
Hey, katolives,
Why you so agry? Croprit coporate who cares. Nationwide. Corpate and thier store laceys have no respect for they’re employs. That the isyou!
So get a life and stop with the condescension and unjustified pompous arrogant behaviors that led you to become the policeman of this site’s grammar and syntax.
Go read Huckleberry Finn and maybe you’ll get some perspective on how the vernacular of the common people of any age, or time in history, is more powerful and more easily used to convey the ideas of that age. Often the intelligentsia of those past epochs missed the winds of change that blew them away to their dust filled catacombs.
I recommend also that you may enjoy reading some of the collected works of a gentleman named William Shakespeare. They are full of misspellings and anachronisms that may help you overcome your issues. The reading of those, for you, will be like immersion therapy.
(Feel stupid yet)
I started with HD Roofing in 2001- with the original company doing nationwide roofing for HD- a year or 2 into it HD purchased company (IPUSA)- after we were purchased ,with in a year, HD purchased RMA Siding and Windows, and merged the 2 together. First year or 2 after merger and the 2 merged company's seemed to settle into their roles- HD decided it was time to take a professional sales organization that was making millions and started to drop "their people" into key positions for this 'NEW" division .These"people" were ex store managers, Department heads etc, etc. These people did not know how to handle an outside sales organization- they went with what they knew--(The Store!)- they tried to treat non salaried professional sales force as a extension of the store(that's all they knew how to do!- treat you like garbage, give you a Homer Badge!( what the heck is a Homer badge? i wondered after working 3 year for them!- never knew)-expect you to work in the store for free- make you work 7 days a week- nuts- i left in 2009 and though i loved the job itself- HD ruined it for me- I could no longer take the disrespect that they display for their employees and if truth be told"the customer!"- Its not a surprise to me that they have failed- they were destined to- the moment they wrote the check to buy these companies. They ruined them..........
I worked this past year fo Home Depot Exterior (Exterior installations) and was laid off this week. Not widely reported, is that this layoff also affects HDI (Interiors). As a nation-wide termination of services, which may also be world-wide, my guess is tens of thousands of employees, not the less than 1000 as reported, may be affected.
I've been employed by HDE for only about one year and, while being very disappointed with losing my job, I feel HD is taking care of us, giving at least two months paid salary continuation plus an additional one month compensation. Given the circumstances, I feel that HD is being more than generous with their compensation package.
Working as an HDE SC, was not easy and I am sorry to be leaving because I (mostly) enjoyed my work. I also feel sorry for the thousands of other employees affected by this layoff.
I wish all laid off emoyees the best of luck.

Does anybody take the time to read the article? Can ANYONE spell anymore? God help this stupid country. One id--t asked if it was nationwide. Read!!!!!! Learn to spell. Corporate, not corperate.
Sad, stupid, and total lack of concern for all personnel and their families in this emailed termination notices or lack of notice. My son was notified by email Tuesday that he was no longer employeed. Total chicken-sh*t. NO re-allocation are allotment offered to these employees. Total ineptitude on HD's echelons in power. Seems they are on the J.C. Penny/Sears/K-Mart business plan.
A business line HD should have never purchased years ago. It is toxic and needs to be cut off from the company.
I was lucky. Saw the writing on the wall in April. Just got out in January after watching the systematic destruction following the Sears model.
Hired Sears executives and then think it won’t happen here? This may be the new definition of insanity.
First cut S.C. commission. Then jam non working sales force in. Weekly mileage went from 400 to 1200 miles per week. Leads died, store connectivity died, sales died. Products so high priced totally non-competitive.
If your in the northern Utah market and want to make a change in career with real benefits and salary you know who I am. I will refer you.
I was informed Tuesday 02/05 by phone that my HDE position was being downsized and I was terminated. Received an information packet today for “Salaried Non -Manager-Level Role Elimination information Packet. “. Has anyone else received theirs ? If so, has anyone read page 2? This is confusing since we were “Commission “ only and packet says “ Salaried.” Any other commission only salesmen get this same packet?
I saw the writing on the wall almost a year ago and left HDE when no matter what happened the SC would always have their money taken first to resolve an issue created by the service side of the company.
Myself and others I know would fight like crazy to keep what we earned but our weak SM's and obstructive BSM would simply brush it off in favor of protecting Home Depot.
Sales consultants came last.
Thankfully I left in June 2018 started my own siding company and now we are Elite preferred from Hardie only 1 of 76 companies in the US that holds the honor.
We install stucco, stone and Hardie for a large gas/convenience store company that's aggressively moving into Florida, numerous builders, developers and remodeling.
The most important aspect I learned from HD was how to out install them with better service, now I'm going to Outlast them as well.
HDE is merging with HDI. Large branches have 6-12 months, smaller 4-6 months. OM’s in the operations center were told to expect their severance packages and termination in 4 months. There is a FIM swat team going around the country trying to clean up jobs and cancel installs and trying to retain capacity. ISM/BIM/SM/BSM positions and any service and OA positions will be eliminated when the branch closes. So far thousands of calls to RSIG customers have been made and under $3000 in gift cards have been given out as compensation to cancel projects. ISM’s were allowed to keep their iPhone as part of being released and 30 day car rental for those that had trucks.
RSIG products will be offered now through the Pro Referral website which was explained on a Tank Talk video today which “disconnected” unexpectedly when people started asking tough questions.
This company is completely and absolutely mismanaged from our corporate office. Many of them should have been cut instead of those of us in branches. We warned them about issues in town halls and VOA surveys but we were ignored. The good old boy system which was used for promotions blew up in their face with this disgraceful mismanagement.
Home Depot pretends to be committed to being a good partner with their service providers. That is BULL, all responsibility lies on the doorstep of each service provider. There is no loyalty, don't drink the koolaid! Installation services is not a cookie cutter endeavor. HD is not willing to pay a fair labor price to service providers. Thus they get unqualified installers which affects the customer experience.
Pay peanuts-You get monkey's!
So sorry to hear that so many of you have been affected by this recent change. If I can help please do not hesitate to reach out. The company I work for does Direct Hire recruiting specifically in the Building Products Industry across the US. We have had great success placing some of the Lowe's PSI's recently who too lost their positions effective 2/15. My direct line is 603.725.4063 or you can visit us online at: www.snapdragonassociates.com
Great company before HD bought it and screwed it up! Somebody high up in their corporate IT department made a lot of money on kickbacks from Salesfarce!
Yes, this is nationwide. Changes have been made, one after the other, over the last 6 years. Each change impacted customers and associates adversely. Then Stacey Tank was brought in a year and some months ago, and the most horrible watered down version of Salesforce.com was brought in to “manage” the program. She has all the right corperate buzzwords in her vocabulary, but gives lip service to compassion for employees and customers, and has no idea how to run such a business! Our installs have become of embarrassingly poor quality, and our contractors have also become more and more unhappy as young hourly employees in Atlanta who have no idea what they are doing screwed up every complex material order. I survived the cuts, but I don’t see how I can stay.
I'm looking for siding subs in Wisconsin and Illinois. Hit me up. Toughjob77@gmail.com
Top pay!

"HDE lyes off workers due to elimination of installation services on roofs, gutters, insulation and siding nationwide."
I can see that gutters, insulation and siding upgrades are something people might put off buying during uncertain times, but if a hail storm destroys your roof, you have to get it replaced. We had a hail storm last summer with golf ball plus sized hail and everyone on the street had to get a new roof.
I think this is just step #1 and that they will soon fold HDE into HDI and require the remaining SCs to work out of the store, with a much reduced commission. I made it through this 1st cut, but have no doubt that HDE will be but a memory by the end of 2019, if not sooner.
There are opportunities in the stores , ha e to realize the only constant is change . Also while the good going good always have a plan B C and D , don’t know why everyone acting surprised
Has anyone received their severance package or final pay yet??
For all you laid off SC....please go down to your closest store and speak with the SM. They may be able to bring you on in the store. The HD culture is still alive.
I know that it may be upsetting, but you are getting a severance package and there will be in store opportunities. I know my store will be hiring 20-30 employees over the next few months.
HDE lyes off workers due to elimination of installation services on roofs, gutters, insulation and siding nationwide.
So sad to hear from my current/previous HDE brothers and sisters. I am from Los Angeles and they have hollowed out the work force here from salesmen to management to installers. I now truly believe that they see us as a body count and could care less about how many lives they have effected. The worst part is they tried to spin it like it was going to be better for us lol. How dumb do they think we are?
Looks like the value wheel has been abandoned! It's more like a broken wagon wheel now..... This is how I see it. First off, Accounting started to look at all the warranties coming due from the past 15 years of installation. Warning lights went off and the sirens went screaming... This is going to cost us more than we planned for!! Pull the plug!
Second, The poor execution of the Sales Force launch Jan 2018 with the Sales Consultants, combined with the terrible weather across the nation drove another nail into the SC's already bad attitude of how they are treated and the fact that they were now going to drive a hell-of-a-lot more on their own dime without any additional compensation. (NOTE: check the new IRS code for 2018- It's kind of hard to deduct miles this year!) sales went in the Tank, no pun intended
Third, it has already been stated that around a 1000 associates were let go, it's more like 10's of 1000's of people because you just crushed quite a few third party installers many of whom were 100% HD Install only. Oh by the way, there was an initiative to hire many more this year and they all paid quite a few fee's to become licensed. Is HD reinbursing them? I bet you not! Try and get back into the business a few years from now.... Who wants to come work for HD?
Lastly, HDE is for lack of a better definition is/was a light construction company. HQ tried to run it like a store with a cookie cutter approach. BIG MISTAKE --IT'S SALES STUPID- Construction is not an exact science and commission only compensation package does not work with one and done purchases. I bet over half the sales force starved this past winter due to seasonality, turn-over was again 400% and the powers-to-be either could not see that there was an easy fix of using the salary plus bonus platform for employee continuity AND increased productivity or they did not care because someone along the line who did make the decision, may have been fired themselves and needed to keep the ego intact. (We are HD and will make money anyway)
HD you better focus on the stores because the Amazon Materials Division is going to eat your Lunch... watch and see
Regards,
One happily let go SC
Might be good in retail but have no idea on how to run a sales organization! Hope they honor there warranty commitments to there customers. This post from a 13 year Home Depot Sales Consultant in the Minneapolis Branch. I drank the kool aid

Yes to above, lots of good people got treated poorly. The layoffs are happening at the wrong end of the spectrum, should have been a top down changeover, Stacey Tank has managed to Tank the profitable and growing division in a year and a half. 2018 was a cluster*** with a cheap version of Salesforce and no marketing or advertising, what a disappointment to shareholders.
Is this in Maryland too
Was anyone here hired from Sears?
