Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

GM Careers site new posting for jobs terminated this week.

Take a look at careers.gm.com. A lot of jobs posted this week and I can confirm that the ADAS postings were positions that people were let go from yesterday. Mostly the positions of older employees. The young let go employees in ADAS (myself included) positions are not posted. It seems to me that they terminated young people to justify removing bad older employees in positions they actually need.

For the person that questions "Why pay to let someone go, then re-hire? Doesn't this defeat the purpose ?"

Has GM really made sense over the years in some of the decisions they have made...?

It will take almost 2-3 months for gm to start hiring back only select few

Young are severed along with the Old to avoid Age Discrimination law suits.

To remove older employees. Not bad older employees. Read all the other posts. This has a lot to do with $.

I've noticed that... as people were laid off, their positions were listed on the GM Careers site.

Perhaps they laid off two people and only posted for one job?

You know, do more with less! Typical GM!
