Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Field Services Outsourced

Internal announcement today that all of Field Services has been outsourced to NCR. Around 350 are losing their jobs. Not sure if NCR can do the job Field Services did, I always had a great relationship with that team.

Numbers too small to make the press, just like previous layoffs. That's too bad, these peoples' careers are affected. Best of luck to all.

Its true I was in the meeting I never trusted senior leadership they always had something up their sleeve. But they are keeping their jobs. Very interesting!!! All the best to the field service people effected by this and may you find something else soon.

Macy’s calls this collateral damage. So long as they have jobs, it’s all that matters.

Glad I’m out

You should expect this type of treatment from Macy's, doens't matter if you have 3 months or 30 years with the company. Happens year after year. Don't be having that surprised look on your face when your job or store is next.

This is a trend with these department stores, Nordstrom just did the same. Seems it was just a matter of time. Feel bad for all the technicians that spent their life at Macy’s and in the end got chewed up than spit out. But it happened to me first.

This was done poorly. Looking around the room, expressions of shock and disbelief as 20+ year careers were ended. Very sad and will not work out in the long run. Expected better from this venerable company.

Well, the decision has been made. Best of luck to the stores! It will be a big circus. Get what you pay for!

NCR isn't under any obligation to hire Macy's employees either from what I heard. They have full discretion on hiring, so they could hire all outside if they choose.

NCR is looking to absorb about 250 of those laid off
