Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Should the severance be signed or not? WARN notice question.

If I'm not mistaken the WARN notice provides the employee 60 OFFICIAL days advanced notice to that individual will be let go. I'm seeing that a WARN notice was issued for WTC correct? But was filed after or on the same day that layoffs started. What does that mean for those laid off starting 2/4 since the notice was filed on 2/4. Should they be compensated according to WARN or take the package?

If you accept WARN, do you get your TeamGM bonus?

As it was explained to me by HR, since I was not given 60 days notice, they are required by law to pay me through April 9th. That is ON TOP OF receiving my regular pay through the end of February and the 6 months severance which begins on March 15th. At no time was I told that it was WARN or Severance.

And that makes sense, as WARN deals with events prior to being terminated, not after.

Since they have given less than 60 day notice and it’s more than 100 people laid off. you are eligible, now to my understanding is that you can choose either severance or opt for WARN. I’m not sure how the health benefits work using WARN however. If you have less than 4 years at GM from monetary standpoint WARN would be better choice.
