How many of the remaining employees wish they had received the severance package?

I don’t wish for it, but we’ve been told as much that it’s not necessarily over - so some may still get their wish later this year.

I wonder how many people will leave after the bonus. It seems like a lot of people are planning on leaving after the payout.

I wanted badly. Had 9.5 years in GM and 3 jobs in hand, each paying 20% more in Detroit area only. I am working in the high tech/ AI fields, GM is not competitive. Planning to leave after bonus.

It definitely got me thinking about it. I came to GM a few years ago during the hiring spree. My Dad is a GM retiree. Always been my dream to work for GM. To date GM has treated me well and I was not laid off in the purge. My manager and director have always supported me. That said, the ugliness of the last few months has definitely got me thinking. My wife has been wanting to move down south for many years. Might be time for me to find a non-automotive job somewhere down south. Low probability but definitely thinking about it.

I am a NCH on my 3rd year. I have a similar experience as someone who posted before. My java skills have declined since college same with my overall skills in software engineering. Luckily I work a bit outside of work to keep up software development skills. I will leave after the bonus.

Was not cut. Looking forward to the GM transformation. It s---s this had to happen, but in order to prepare the company for the future it had to happen. The job market is decent right now and Many empliyers have reached out to hire ex-GMers. I would have been fine either way.

I tried interviewing for an internal position early last year because i was burned out with over work and tied of carrying more weight than some people who treat their job like adult day care. Blocked by manager. I was hoping to get cut so i don't have to quit myself.

Those not cut and left behind are a seriously shocked and demoralized workforce. It may takes years, if ever for most of them to ever have any trust in anything this company says. As for me, it is just a job at this point, not a career. While I'll go in and do my best every day I have no illusions. Just maxing out my 401K and hanging in there just a few more years so I can retire. I can really say at this point I've had my belly full of corporate America and this nonsense.

I already started applying and moving on soon. I wish I was part of the involuntary so I could have enjoyed 2 months of severance pay. After seeing the horror show last few days, I don’t think I can be loyal to GM any longer.

NCH here in Roswell and been here for 3 years. The work s---s and my java skills have declined. Thankfully, I did my own independent projects. Best believe I will be moving on.

Not cut and not looking elsewhere. Very excited about the future and thankful to be a part of it.

Planning to turn in my two weeks very soon. Waiting for bonus then I am quitting. I can't see myself working for this company anymore.

As an employee released- couldn’t be more happy.

I think the package is decent now that we know those laid off get the bonus too and it would be nice to have a few months off. However, I really don’t think the job market is as great as some are making it sound. I know people who have been job searching for almost a year and still have not found anything and this area is only going to get more saturated with people job searching. I feel for those laid off and feel fortunate to still have a job.

Maybe the State of Michigan or state representatives should get involved and formally request GM to clarify the position of severance versus WARN for WTC laidoff employees. GM just have to give an example with an employee with 10 years of experience.

I'm waiting on a job offer and the bonus payout then I'm out.

It was offer, last fall. If I had wanted it I would have taken it then. BTW, I have been there long enough to have received the full 6 months. GM has always been a great place to work and I am more than happy to continue working there.

@eos There is confusion with the WARN payout. Some are suggesting WARN negates severance or visa versa. Cannot get any straight answers either here or from HR.

I was happy to get involuntary. Better than voluntary due to WARN compensation of 45 days. Ending up with 7 1/2 months plus bonus.

Find another job, this company does not deserve you. treat them the same way they treated you.

My guess is that 25% of those remaining would take severance, if offered.
