Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Got laid off in November

I know what it feels like to be laid off! But honestly, I landed in a much better job than what I had at GM. Do not be disheartened, everything happens for the good. Take a good break and start looking for new jobs.I am surprised our managers at Rencen who literally just sit lazying around doing nothing all day are still surviving! GM has a really bad management and bad decision making process. They will pay for it heavily some day. Good luck to all !

Yeah, I have noticed the same thing, it's almost as though they see their job AS getting promoted!

It helps if you're young and pretty, male or female.

OP got it spot on. Managers and people who love to blabber in meetings without any data and or conclusive evidence seem to get popular by the day and a lot of them end up in powerful positions. It's all about ticking the boxes and getting to level 8, 9 etc..not seen many people who actually care about learning things the right way and engineering better products.

I agree. Not only Managers. There are a lot of people that don't want to do anything, and they don't know anything. It is unbelievable the people GM hires that knows nothing about vehicles. They talk like they do. It is laughable. I have to do 3 peoples work because it is faster then showing people what to do, on things that they should know what to do. That is why GM hired them. Just unbelievable.
