Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford's layoffs will be more subtle

I doubt it will be the same. GM is taking all the heat for the auto sector. Ford knows this and is trying to do it in a more subtle way. Even if they lay off the same number of people, it will most likely be through various rounds of layoffs instead of one massive round like GM.

Exactly what @Xsw3ohr-2let said. I wish Ford decided to do all the layoffs at the same time. It would be tough, but at least we'd know it was over at some point. Like this, we'll have layoffs hanging over our heads for who knows how long. So we'll have to not only go through the stress of the actual layoffs days, but also all the anxiety that comes with anticipation of the next one.

It may appear to be subtle to those on the outside. Inside our org everyone was talking about who got cut and the areas, IT, consumer experience, etc.

Some said it was LL5 and above while others mentioned some LL6s. Haven’t heard of any GSRs yet.

I can’t fathom how productivity and morale will survive until June.

What GM did will be like a paper cut in comparison to Ford cutting it’s arm off.

was at Caterpillar and GM. Caterpillar had multiple rounds, GM has one big cut. As painful as it is right now, I strongly prefer GMs way.

GMer here. I hope and pray you guys don’t have to go through what we’ve been through this week. It has been excruciatingly painful for everyone. Hopefully the Ford family steps in before anything approaching the bloodletting we’ve seen occurs there.

It's true. I much rather a swift and massive layoff than dragging this on for months and months. The mental stress plus the inability to perform any family financial planning will be super stressful for most.
