The merger of pharmacy and optical has ruined both departments. Pharmacist don't know how to run a successful OPTICAL. When Opticians were DM's the operation ran much smother and opticians actually enjoyed their jobs. Now.. Opticians dread a visit checking for Probe forms, tablet use etc. Nothing that really makes since in a true optical retail environment. Home office obviously doesn't care. They would rather save a few bucks on DM payroll opposed to hire DM opticians that can make money and decisions knowledgeably or even fill in as a floater when needed.

Just look at what’s happened on the Sam’s side. I’m sure the same “big exciting” changes are the same ones we got. Let me give you a run down. Shotty lab work, limited rx’s, lab never in stock on frames pulling 60 at a time from the frame board, higher frame prices, no more designer, 2-3 week delivery time, insurance chargebacks like crazy. This is just to name a few of the exciting changes. Good luck!
I 100% agree! I’m a long term associate and I’ve seen changes come and go and I’ve thought from the beginning that merging us together was one of the dumbest things ever! Now all we keeping hearing is major changes are coming to vision so just hange on. “Big changes” that are going to thrill everyone buuuttttt we can’t give you an any kind of idea what they are because “we’re stll putting teams into place, we’re in the planning stages or my favorite, we’re piloting to see how some of these programs will work”. Yet NOTHING is ever leaked out or spoken of as to what things they are piloting, soooo soooo frustrating as we watch our optical competition move ahead by leaps and bounds and WM can’t even do a decent remodel on their vision centers.
