For those who are laid off...

... have you started your job search or taking some time off before doing what's necessary?

Let go last Tuesday. I’m in no rush, and am realistic enough to know that opportunities for a woman my age are limited. So, I am taking time to think about what’s next. One thing I’m certain about-no more busting my behind to fill the pockets of some ungrateful millionaires. Enough.

I'm in Detroit and got it last Tuesday. I have been applying to a lot of places (GE, Ford, Dominoes, Amazon, FCA, and a ton of agencies too). If I could relax I would, but I personally cannot chill like that. Non-Action makes me depressed. Got to keep goin' and got to keep fightin'!

Speaking from experience, give yourself a week or so to clear your head and de-stress. Then, do a skills inventory, update your resume, begin scanning Career Builder, etc. You'll want to use the process to focus. Many will feel anger and resentment with GM. Channel that energy. It's healthier for you, your family, and your career.
