Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

2019 Will Be The Worst In A Decade

2019 will be the first year of the Ellison cuts and changes. This year will either make or break Ellison and his buddies he surrounded himself with at corporate. I predict his plans will fail abysmally.

What’s your opinion???

Always great to read these comments from disgruntled employees. It always is fun how people that work 10+ years in many cases all in the same job without advancing always seem to have all the answers. They are always smarter than the CEO or whoever is in charge. Hmmmmm, if these people are really so incredibly adept in business I wonder why they are still laboring away on the floor of a retailer ??? Could it be they are clueless and myopic in their views and have zero understanding of issues beyond their little world ?? Yea I am thinking that is probably it. If everyone on here is so amazingly gifted and have the answers how about you step up, be part of the solution vs sitting in the background complaining?

How long would it take to make some calls? What a showboating mo--n. You should be able to get those sales from your regular customers every day no problem. Getting NEW business is how you increase sales. “BuT i GoT a oRDer fRoM mY RegULaR cUsTOmeR, reee!” Congrats genius. You’re a glorified order taker. Easily replaced by a kiosk or some new online quote program. Let’s brag about that lol.

when you do things on the cheap you can NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL!. Egads lays it out pretty thoroughly. You want to go from good to great.....ain't happening on the cheap. And to suggest that we are even a good company at the moment may be a bit of a stretch

Here’s a basic.

We have no front canopy and therefore have no pro loader position assigned to the store.

Here’s a basic.

We have no good credit terms to offer a pro.

Here’s a basic:

Our managers treat sales like an afterthought.

Here’s a basic.

We don’t sell lumber longer than 16 feet.

Here’s a basic:

Our CEO is clueless.

Fail.

Heres why:

Carvin and Blow are using cheat sheets, gimmicks, and shortcuts. They have stolen ideas from Home Depot, and the past. Instead of creating their ow. Instead of digging in and finding out the real fundamental crux of Lowe's issues and then addressing them properly (deduction and induction) they chose the short route, without any true / real understanding of "why" Lowe's has gone down hill.

Their new Pro program JLQ Stocking, seems legit on its surface. Have plenty of top stock items Pro contractors use regularly in large supply to fill big orders all the time. Sounds good right? Contractors able to order 10 pallets of concrete to finish jobs, and not having to go elsewhere fpr their flooring, concrete, lumber, etc?

Well, by using short cuts, Marv and Joe never addressed issues raised to them in conference calls by their AEP's and other executives. Such as the entire Pro staff has been tasked! Outside of Pro. So who is going to help the contractors? Who is going to load all these materials when the store has one FT Lumber employee, and 2 part timers? Why are Pro guys covering lumber every day? Unloading trucks, and covering other depts? IRP's, cycle counts, and register because we have no cashiers.

How can PRO employees help Pro sales when they are scheduled on WEEKENDS? Saturdays AND Sundays, every week, where they are tasked away from Pro? Thats 35% of every week starting away from Pro customers. Add in the other assigned tasks, we literally work at Pro for 5 hours a week! We cannot call anyone on weekends, they are closed! Great thinking Lowe's!!

These are fundamental issues that will all be exposed as this rolls out that they never addressed. There is a hierarchy to all things, Lowes is NO exception. Lowe's suffers from "cart before the horse" syndrome in every area of operation and until fixed, they / we are never going to get better.

Its not only in Pro, its everywhere. We have ASM's who cannot even do the schedule correctly, or a schedule that makes ANY sense. Coverage is terrible.

I could go on forever, citing specific examples of the CBTHS, and their backwards thinking and planning on the operational level, but Ill leave that floor open for the rest of you. Maybe if we all chime in they will hear us?

Lastly, they have hired managers with no conceptual thinking process. Yesterday, I was told to call customers who have spent $0.00 all year BEFORE customers spending actively. This is backwards. Yet, the manager said "do as youre told!" Well, I was insubordinate, because I called high potential accounts, and it paid off. I got 3 big estimates to work up, and potential others with great feedback.

Whats even worse is.... we are tasked, they GRADED on sales. They know we are tasked away from our primary responsibilities, but then also graded. Thats unethical, a hostile work environment, unfair, unjust, and just plain id--tic.

So yea, Lowe's will fail and to be honest, it looks as if they WANT, and intend, to fail. They always get paid! The big CEO's. It will be us, the ones who DO the work who get screwed. All FT'ers will be gone by years end.

Lowe's is done. They are fundamentally, ethically, and conceptually BANKRUPT!

If you can’t beat ’ em, copy ’em.

Marvin Ellison, the new chief executive at Lowe’s, says his plan to fix the floundering home-improvement chain includes a few tricks he learned from his days as an executive at Home Depot, according to analysts to whom he’s spoken. “He’s going to replicate the Home Depot playbook where he can,” Gordon Haskett analyst Chuck Grom told The Post. “Ellison thinks there’s a lot of market share up for grabs.” But cutting labor costs — a relentless tactic at Home Depot that has earned its stores a reputation for forcing customers to walk across multiple aisles in search of help — also could be a key part of Ellison’s playbook.

It’s the Schittshow starring Captain Marvelous and Lackey McFartland. Straight from tanking JCP to Lowes.
