Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

People are quitting UP

I see more and more like employees quitting due to the poor work conditions. I know my workload had doubled and it ain’t getting done and were cutting corners

Same thing is happening here. People are just so tired - not just of constant layoffs, but of having to pick up work previously done by people who were laid off for no extra pay.

I'm surprised more people are not leaving on their own, company-wide.

Cool. Movin' on up the seniority roster! Thats awesome possum buddy.

Hey dumb--s there's no moving up when the layoffs are all on the bottom. Guys leaving from the top n their own don't change your position from that.

What we’re witnessing is the crumbling of a once great company in a country that peaked years ago. As we started focusing on the individual and not the community, we started grabbing all we could for ourselves with no regard for others, and now look at us. I doubt Lance or Black Rock leadership even think to be the least bit embarrassed.....

field managers are and have been quitting by the bus loads. entire management classes are gone within a few years of training. UP isn't trying to establish any sort of quality within their ranks so they are fine with everyone quitting and starting fresh every few years. UP's loss is all the other companies gain because they have lost untold amounts of young talent. people you probably don't even remember because they barely made it two years if that. just put it on their resume and move on to a real job.

I see a lot of good employees leaving on the mechanical side. The bad employees with no skills are staying

They want poor conditions, high stress, etc. because they want the older people to quit and/or retire to keep the healthcare expenses down.

Part of the strategy... make work sh--ty enough, and unsafe people will leave, and they won’t have to fire us.
