The decision to build the Blazer in Mexico was probably decided in 2015 or 2016. To reverse it back would probably be costly and then wages are higher here too. GM would sell less of them. Being a global company is no easy task. What smartphone are you using right now? Where was it built?
An "American" company is just one where the CEO lives in the US. It doesn't mean they care about American workers or make the product in the US.
When GM makes their cars in Mexico and BMW makes their cars in South Carolina, I see BMW as the more American company because they're hiring American workers.
Build quality is better in mexico
If someone offers to do something for you for $10,000, and someone else offers to do it for you for $7,000 who do you go with? Most people won't spend 3,000 extra for an American flag with every single thing they buy every day.
