The grass is greener....

Fellow workers...

After being let go , life is better, I have a new job and now have Saturdays and Sundays off...The pay is a dollar an hour less but with weekends off I am happy ...hang in there, life can be better without UP...will never be going back......

Hey...now that's a great job perk right there!!! LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE. I swear this job is going to be the end of me one of these days.

Wait a minute! The UP leadership had me convinced all the people driving nice cars on the highway and eating in nice restaurants all worked at Union Pacific! You mean there's other jobs out there? Did they lie to me? hahahaha. Congrats. I too make about the same as I did at UP and work half the hours. And when I get sick, which I rarely do, guess what I do? I take a paid sick day and nobody cares.

Even though you e making a dollar or two less than the railroad, not having to pay union dues and rrb tier 1 and 2 makes your take home pay better than working at the railroad. At least that's what I've noticed. And like you, I'm not going back either. Also, as an added perk, my blood pressure is lower since the big layoff.

I was let go in early February. I have a new job, days with weekends off. This would not of happened at the railroad for many years.
