Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Pricing Coordinators changes

Pricing Coordinators are not technically being laid off, but there are test stores in Florida that have made pricing coordinators accept the position of Customer Readiness Associate. This position comes with a schedule working overnight and more job duties, such as unloading the truck and stocking.

This was recently announced in Regions 15 and 12. We will be changing over on April 20. There will be no severance for this position since it isn’t considered a lay-off.

Right now it seems as if the pricing coordinator’s schedule is just changing, and there are different added duties being reported by different stores. So I’m unsure what exactly is going to happen next month.

But it seems as if the plan is to eventually create an overnight team that unloads trucks, puts up freight, does price changes and signage, and completes cycle counts.

While this is only being called a test, with it already spreading to multiple stores and regions, I fully expect this to move forward within the company.

I have been a PSC for 23 years. I am being stripped of my title in about a week. Going to overnights. That was not what I signed up for. And I am leaving 1st chance I get.

In NY/ NJ this happened to us MONTHS ago! The pricing coordinator we had quit because of having to go to overnights, and ever since everything is mis-labeled in our store.

I am actually going in very early this am to reset an entire aisle before store opens for this reason - WRONG SIGNAGE throughout.

So yes, this is a roll out, and not a "test."

Our new PC does cash office at 530 am, then PC duties, along w/ customer service desk, etc. This has been going on for months.

"Do more with less" is Lowe's new motto, and slowly, over time, all customers are leaving, the stores are decling in every regard, morale is non-existent, and customer service abandoned.

Every time a customer says at the register, "hey, this was labeled as $x.xx, we simply ring them up fr that amount because they are right. Everything is priced wrong in our store. Hell, everything is wrong in our store.

Whats nasty is, corp and upper management are all aware, and DO NOTHING!

I can't speak for your Pricing/Signage Coordinator in your store but I am the P.S.C. in my store and I work hard. The only labels I leave on the desk are ones I have looked for and can't find or I spotted them in t/s. And as far as pricing getting done faster on nights not true for me. When I can't find something there's no one to ask. I spend way to much time looking for things that are probably buried in top stock. I try not to take things to heart but that comment about cutting or changing positions aggravated me. I've worked for Lowes for almost 20 years and at least 15 of them pricing condemning every P.S.C for what yours does or doesn't do is kind of unfair. Oh and by the way at 56 years old the night shift has turned my world upside down. Sleep is very hard to get enough of. But I hope you sleep alright!

Pricing coordinator at my store spends her days wandering the store, chatting with friends, taking extra breaks, flirting with the delivery drivers, only to complain about how overworked and overwhelmed she is, then drops off the remaining price tags on the department desks and calls it a day.

I will say that the associate in this position needs to wear a “vendor” vest and ignore helping customers; all they should do is call the department for the customer.

After a couple of weeks on the new set up I have to say it only works when both teams are present. Otherwise the crew is burned out and p-ss-d because we have been doing so many tasks with only a “what you got left” as support from the manager. I know it’s corporate, but this has completely removed the essential work life balance that MUST exist for 3rd shift workers.

Just another attack on senior employees and senior citizens most pricing CORDINATOR have done same job for a lot of years Low's will find out how much they actually have to do when prices are having to be corrected by overrides ask any manager there comment I would never do pricing CORDINATOR job to much for one person plus all the other tasks some items in 7 or 8 different locations they all have to be changed.

Apparently your manager is not doing there job pricing CORDINATOR in our stores work hard entire 8 hours they are here there job is done complete each day plus other tasks so the one leaving labels on desk should be removed from job because they are either not trained or not been held accountable which falls on management pricing should be taken seriously by all employees and management follow us for one day before you make judgement.

I am a manager in one of the test stores in Florida. The positions that Transfer overnight are pricing coordinator and truck unloaders. RTM, Receiving clerk and Back end support did not go overnights, still has same position. If 7 nights like my store we now have 2 overnight supervisors and everybody works 10 hour shifts. The original set has been revised and changed but our district is pushing for 10 people working 10 hour shifts each night. The good news is IRP, cycle counts, pack down and pricing all go overnight so associates can focus on the customer. Per usual somebody always mentions the bad but not the good. Your Welcome.

What other positions are going to the One Task Team aka Customer readiness associates? Is the back end support manager going to go with them? Also, what about the rtm and receiving clerk?

Lol well the way VENICE fl runs it’s overnight crew that many responsibilities would be a joke and that manager should be making at least $30/hr for all of that BS. They run their night crews(2 for 7 day coverage) with 5 associates and a manager and expect all 121,000sq feet of the store to be stocked, put away etc - usually the truck isn’t even unloaded by the time the stock team gets there so that also falls on the night crew 🤣. You’d need a good 20 people to do that and get it done the best way possible, at least 20 per team.

It’s not just the pricing coordinators going to nights, it’s the back end support manager and loafers as well. All as the on task team, with the job title Customer Readiness Associate. There are approximately 100 listings for these jobs right now.

Our pricing coordinator walks around the store, chats with friends, complains about how much work she has to do, leaves the labels on the "desk" for the department, and calls it a day. I'd say they would be a good candidate to cut or change their position.
