Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VSP don't rock the boat

A word of caution to the people left on the boat. Do not allow the people who are jumping on the life boats make you bitter or second guess your decisions. I've seen teammates get scared away and find new jobs in other companies or jobs. Some of the VSP people are just trying to cause havoc and rock the boat before they leave.

Watching the ship from a better port is definitely more satisfying than working for loser managers with no qualifications other than kissing tails

Why would a vsp person do that?

An ESP person however can do that because Verizon told their corrupt managers to pick and chose the employees they wanted to sell to infy for profits and retain the ones they wanted to see in company sponsored donuts parties in the future.

If Verizon had been smart and fair about picking their managers and leaders based on performance those managers would have been fair on whom to sell to infy and whom to retain but since those managers themselves are a result of terminal croniesm that is practiced here they do not know any better.

VSP here. I would never rock the boat because I have a lot of friends and people I respect staying behind. I would never make their job today tougher. This VSP is giving me the opportunity to do something different and I do finally feel like this change will energize me (HA). It has been a tough few years doing more and more work with fewer resources and seeing tons of people let go involuntarily. I am controlling the decision and I am grateful.

better to have been offered the VSP in contrast, displaced, told to go to Infosys (ESP) and get lost -- long walk on a short plank. most VSP individuals would not depart and spread negative energy. these VSP decisions are humbling. Shankar's decisions, actions, and reactions are ignorant. and, being displaced for bias reasons by mid level managers who are all foreigners is where the ugliness, rocking the boat, starts, and will never end.

only, VSP should have been offered to all then the Infosys rebadging.

Speaking for myself as a VSP person leaving in June, I have never and will never made any of my teams mates second guess themselves. When they talk to me, I tell them they absolutely can't second guess themselves and what is going to be will be. I was fortunate to be in a position where it made sense to take it but if I still had young kids and needed to make the money I make, I would have stayed put. VZ isn't perfect but no company is and folks need to be able to make personal decisions that work best for them and their families and everyone else needs to worry about themselves.

I think it is ridiculous that the post suggest that VSP folks are rocking the boat to raise havoc with those staying. FRANKLY most VSP people do not care a thing about Verizon and or the folks that remained other than to give them their best and continue on with their choice. The post is from someone living the culture of Verizon which wears on you after a while. Good luck to all those that remain and good luck to those that left. You all made your individual decision for you and move on and live your life with happiness and no regret. Looking back can be a weight around your neck. Move forward with positive thoughts. But I disagree with the original posting of havoc raising by those that chose VSP.

Leaving for me was the best option. I will not put down verizon but after 4 years it was not for me. Previous I had almost 18 with telecom with a different company. I have tons of skills and gobs of experience and i was young. My time there my potential was never used. I never really advanced or moved even tho i worked hard hey i was the 4th highest rated performer in my dept nationwide. Never once told great job. Never once given a meaningful project to advance my carrer path. Ask to mentor never was the time found. 100% pure stat builder was me with second shift for ever. I seen plenty of colleagoes move up. Am I bitter? Inside verizon working there it really upset me to see others move up but it made me work even harder and better than ever. Outside verizon on a new job i see what was really happening. Leaving was best for me because after everything I was not Verizon I was not part of the "company fabric" or the culture. I just did a good job and worked there. But i was never accepted into the big red machine. Some people works their life away at a place where they "just work". That is no way to live life or be. I wish all who stays luck and love. I wish all those in my position of just being there strength because I do thank you for all you do. I pray for those who are there going to be laidoff that you have the power to get up and rise above. This i know is my last post good luck to all. Time to start living my new life
