Thread regarding CVS layoffs

I really wish this was over and done with

Even if at the end of it I don't have a job anymore - I know I'll be happy to be out of this limbo that only brings us stress and anxiety. If CVS continues like this for much longer, I might leave on my own, just to escape all the uncertainty.

This is not a healthy work environment.

Same on the Aetna side. Just start the layoffs already and give us a piece of mind!

I see only one dingus in this thread, and that is you. Not the op, but how many hours are you running off of right now? How many hours you working a week 60? Giving 15 hours on the house, probably. You’ll be a loser forever and a dummy as well. Enjoy living on the streets chump. There is something called quality of life and cvs isn’t a place that gives you that. Nor is it a place that cares about its colleagues. Sack up and find something better you coward.

Aah Nostradamus!

You are probably the same id--t that said d--gstore.com was going to be the end of CVS.

You want CVS to fail for some reason. You think you are in limbo? The company is not in limbo. If you are a customer, then shop elsewhere now. If you are an employee, just leave. Clearly you are a genius that can see the future. Either way, you win.

Poor you, you have no control over what happens next.? Of course you do, but you would rather complain than change something.

If the company is really so bad and everything is someone else’s fault then why stay? Either way the original poster is a mo--n.

This customer isn’t wrong, and what your customer count and sales are up? How many years in a row were they down? That really doesn’t mean much unless you stat facts. This how retail is you miss a couple of years then they adjust your numbers and you look great after being sub par for so long. For retail store workers the end is coming wether you like it or not. The company isn’t going to want to pay 70-120k to store managers. To the person that said they are charging forward. You’ll be out of a job in 7 years. Enjoy that unemployment line dummy.

I am a long time employee as well. I have heard similar complaints. Every time I check video or investigate, I see that there are 2 people in the store, but one on the register.

if you are having customers call and complain, and looking for someone else t solve the issues in your store, he is right, although he/she are not a good thought partner for you .

As a long time employee of cvs, I can tell you that customers have been complaining for YEARS about not enough cashiers or not enough people on the sales floor, and our DL has said that these complaints are NOT going to be addressed. So if someone has/had a bad customer service experience, corporate will respond to that. BUT, if it’s because of lack of available store personnel, they conveniently ignore those complaints. So I wonder how much cvs really cares about our customers...

Excellent, now you are making comparisons that correct-- Microsoft, Walmart and Amazon are innovators and survivors. and are NOT being acquired. Just like CVS.

Interesting. Who acquired Microsoft and Amazon? It just have been Walmart as fortune #1. Or was it General Motors, Philip Morris, o r Kodak? They also have been were CVS is on Fortune’s list.

CVS cares what customers think, just not what you think.

All of the examples that anyone discusses are companies that were acquired, CVS has not been acquired-- FYI

This combined company is in the fortune top 5. Not even in the same arena with any company mentioned. Sorry McFly. Get back in your time machine and get back to 1985.

Don't be a hater.

Speaking of mergers, how’s that Omnicare merger working out for Cvs these days? Not good from I here...

Time Warner did. Continue to drink the Kool-Aid and ignore customers. All you need is employees shopping at your stores apparently. Good grief, what a sad state of affairs.

Hence the merger to try to turn things around. CVS isn’t just sitting back and letting the ship sink as in your other examples. They are purchasing and integrating with a company that cost $70 billion dollars. How many of those companies you say “lost touch” did anything like this?

You are making the point we haven’t been this low except with a hold up.

He hasn’t been holding it up for 5 years. You’re at a 5 year low in case you hadn’t noticed.

The merger isn’t finalized. The judge is holding everything up. That’s why the stock is down. I’d think such a smart person like you would realize how these things work 🤔....

Just wait till Judge Leon rejects the merger then what? IF he approves it in the end, I will apologize, but if he decides to block the merger, then it’s big trouble for cvs!!

Facts are what I like too. Fact is, your stock is way, way down. And sure, innovation means success. Innovating like paying 6b more for Omnicare then it’s worth and then 20b more for Aetna? Buying other companies is not innovating so you’re aware. Just ask Time Warner. And innovation, ok, sure... I just came back from Borders, in my DeLeorean, listening to my Zune and talking on WorldCom’s network on my Fire phone. Arthur Andersen must do the accounting you’re seeing. Next up Woolworth’s!

I hope you realize that If you’re interested in investing, you read what’s readily available. Simply because I reply here, does not mean I don’t reply anywhere else. I do wish you the best, but with this sentiment, I only see Amazon’s opportunities in the culture and direction. I’m sure they do too...

Just stating facts. Sales and customer count are up. We are in the middle of integrating with another company so of course there is going to be a rough patch. Innovation is how you stay relevant. Bye bye.... Walmart is waiting for you. We won’t miss you. Maybe try their lay-off website??? 🙂

Thank you “random customer” who reads lay-off information and comments.

The companies you listed actually didn’t innovate. Didn’t change. Change is happening here. Maybe you should work , oops, I meant something else I’m sure... elsewhere.

This. This is exactly what’s wrong. Ask Sears, KMart, Blockbuster, Circuit City, Payless what happens when you lose touch. I already do enjoy Walmart! Your stock is down to nearly a 12 year low. Just look at a 5y graph and tell me again how great it’s going. If you need one to see the difference, look at Walmart. Men on the Titanic stood there and smoked cigars when it was sinking too. Stop deluding yourself and maybe, just maybe listen to customers and not the jargon you’re fed.

We aren’t in a good place as a company I agree, but it also sounds like you’re a customer that we are not going to miss. My own district sales and customer count are both up substantially over last year. Enjoy shopping at Walmart 🙂.... bye bye

As a customer, not in quotes, it’s not my job to tell corporate how to run the stores and to be quite honest, why should I waste my time? I’ve been to 3 CVS stores near me and have moved states. All the same. It’s not a store issue and it’s not the employees, it’s seems like a systematic failure on CVS’s part to allocate the necessary resources. They used to, as it was once a great place, but clearly something has changed and no, it’s not the cashiers fault. If merchandising is a struggle now, I shudder to think what will occur when CVS enters a broader healthcare market. I know exactly what that employee means by being in limbo, as sadly, it’s clear by walking into any store. That’s how I feel as a customer there!! I’m glad you’re happy though, you should let corporate know what you’re doing. They could use the advice.

The reference from the reply was to an employee. In limbo. Whatever that means.

To the “customer” if your store is like that I would call corporate to complain. I agree that what you describe is not ok.

“Charging forward”? Amazon and Walmart are leading the charge. As a customer, I haven’t walked out of a CVS in quite some time without something aggravating me. Product out, misplaced, congested with those totes, “all cvs this or that on sale, but not that one”, no one around, register won’t work, on and on... I used to love going there, but lately it’s slipped and fallen. Maybe it’s the morale of employees, or maybe it’s the new direction, either way, the competition is not following suit. Walmart is my go to now as they fixed the reasons no one enjoyed shopping there. CVS hasn’t even started. It’s almost as if they don’t care despite the hearts everywhere.

What limbo are you in?

Are you with Aetna?

I am in retail and we are not in limbo. We are charging forward.
