Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

This makes no sense

"If someone has been unemployed more than 90m days, they are deemed 'No longer looking.' Where does that leave people who have a one-year/non-compete severance agreement?

Asked in another thread, bumped to the top because I'd really like to know the answer to this as well.

But you're not technically unemployed during that period, correct? I believe it is a state-by-state rule--whether you can collect unemployment before your severance runs dry. If not, you would not be on the unemployment books until that point.
