$20 billion divestments

In order to balance the books after the Anadarko takeover CVX announced they will divest $20 billion worth of assets, CUE will sell for around $2 billion, so what BUs are on the chopping block?

@sdd and @gts, so, CVX should get rid of some of their most profitable assets? Wow. There's no wonder why you guys are here trolling the layoff's forum. You're right where you belong.

Agree, priority on divestments will probably be to rationalize the international portfolio in the areas mentioned.

I think there are some proverbial "low hanging fruit" potential divestments--- My guess:

  • some of the Atlas shale properties

  • North Sea upstream assets (already announced)

  • Azerbaijan (already announced)

  • offshore Canada

*Brazil and Colombia

  • some Anadarko West African assets

  • China, Mynamar and Thailand

GOM and Covington go together. It does not make sense to keep Covington while letting GOM go and vice-versa.

By paying close attention you may work out that individual sales are not normally disclosed until deals are signed. Larger sales may be "advertised" (a la Europe) and then you will be advised. Stand by for more info over the next several years. Pray your asset is not sold. Most will be in play and the $20B is sort of a cattle call by Chevron to buyers to "bring us your offers".
