Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

Do you see a future at Thomson Reuters?

Newer employees, do you see a future at Thomson Reuters? Do you see yourself building a career here or is this just a stepping stone for something else?

I'm asking here because at the office not one of the new people thinks this is a good place for any long term plans. Just a short stint to get some experience, learn a few things, and then move on to better things.

Is that were we are at now?

People in the tech hub and people doing work for the Canadian market: two different worlds.

One is getting all the investment; the other has been turned into a branch office.

@2sae - Are those Bremner salaries? They are bit high for Canadian markets.

You need to be more specific when you say Toronto. Say Bay Street because what you say is not the case at Kennedy. It’s like we don’t exist. Well we probably won’t for long anyways...

TR is paying upwards of 130k to SEs and 160k for Leads in Toronto. Tough to get that elsewhere in Toronto. Many agave joined recently. So make as much money as possible until layoffs.

You need to be specific when you say Toronto. While that may be true for some roles and departments, in others TR is below market and is definitely attracting people who are on their way out the moment they arrive. Well, that or people who are unemployable elsewhere.

Depends on the office. Toronto is a “hub” and TR is a top payer in the market. Some new employees see this as a long term career while some see it as stepping stone. Unless you join Googles and Amazons of the world, very few employers can match TR pay in Toronto.
