Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

What's the tipping point? Way too top heavy.

We have cut so many worker bees over the years yet doubled the content they need to monitor and keep working (despite some of it not being manufacturable without planned rework) but we have just as many managers. Everything seems down to a pissing match as managers fight over who is right instead of how to move forward, it's like they've taken too many pages out of the way interviews are done these days.

Is there ever a point when the balance tips and a change in management to lean things up and cut out the bickering? Hopefully just leaving the managers that actually still make decisions rather than the bloat of obstructionists we have now. Or is too much water in the hull to bilge?

If you work for Seagate as a worker bee my advice is do you work ....but always keep asking yourself: how can I damage the company, how can I bring the stock down, how can I get my manager fired or troubled, how can I drag the company to a bathtub and drown it in debt.

The next quarter where Seagate misses unrealistic earnings expectations by wall Street or activist investor by a penny, STX will make haphazard cuts to management that will take away the better managers and leave the entrenched buffoons.

That's the Seagate way.

All I know is that over the weekend my family told me I should leave Seagate. They didn’t know why someone with my ability would want to work for what they viewed as a low end company while others in the family prospered at better places. I was surprised by this and it’s now got me thinking maybe I’m missing out by staying. Seagate is not viewed well out there. Low tier employer and pay is what I heard.

Our managers don't make decisions; they take orders.
