Eligible retirees can get a 25% discount on wireless service and most accessories if enrolled in the Employee Phone Program (EPP) at the time of their retirement.
U.S. based employees enrolled in the Verizon Employee Phone Program (EPP) as an active employee will automatically be moved to their eligible retiree phone program discount upon retirement with no additional action.
Retirees do not need to take any action to receive the Retiree Phone Program discount as long as the employee has an active account on the Verizon Employee Phone Program prior to his or her retirement date.
(My personal VZW account was active on EPP at the time of my retirement, however my April VZW bill showed no discount of any kind, so it was not automatically moved as stated above. I called VZW yesterday, and today received a call back indicating the problem was resolved! I checked my account and they issued a $148 credit for the error, and the plan now shows the 25% discount. I am posting this to let other recent retirees who were on EPP to check their bill.)
FYI: If you leave VZ and do not qualify for the retiree discount, you may qualify for discounts for military, cadets, veterans and their families, or you may qualify for the Go Unlimited for 55+ plan (only available for up to two lines with a billing address in Florida, Illinois, Missouri, Texas or Detroit MI, for some odd reason)
