I’ve been a delivery driver, OSLG team leader, appliance specialist, ISLG specialist, ISLG manager, appliance manager, flooring manager, install sales manager, Back end manager.
If I could persuade them to only cut 10% I’d drop back down to a delivery driver again. I loved that dept.
I’ve worked ISLG, Flooring, Paint, Electrical, Hardware, Home Decor, Pricing, Front End, Load Puller (before that was ever an official position), Assembly, ProServices, Unloader, and Overnight Stocker. A lot of these were done in my first few years when I was part time and willing to pick up hours anywhere they needed someone.
My favorite would be Pricing, followed by Assembly and Load Puller. I just enjoyed knowing what my goals were for the day and being able to complete my work in the way that worked for me with little to no interference.
I know some store have gone that route. We have a coordinator, and we still have our own drivers. We don’t have to report to centralized delivery unless trying to change a delivery to same day in Sterling.
Only delivery driver we have anymore is the "Pro Truck" driver.
All other deliveries have gone 3rd party, have a delivery coordinator instead of a delivery manager.
