Thread regarding Anthem Inc. layoffs

More layoffs in July

Does anybody know if there is any truth in this ongoing rumor that we are looking at 1,000 more people being cut in July? And if it's true, is there any more info on it? Which locations will be hit, which departments, when in July?

I hate not knowing - so any info would be appreciated.

Is anyone aware of how many Anthem employees were let go last month at the Woodland Hills, CA location? I believe it was in their IT Department, some were home-based.

Anyone hear about the Tiger team? Handful of employees relocated their lives to Virginia to be laid off 6 weeks later. Heard their last day is tomorrow.

Does anybody know what those cheap locations are, or where one could find out where they are?

RIFs are happening a daily basis in March and April, and from what am hearing will continue in May, June, and July, and perhaps further. At that point it maybe to force the IT moves to core locations, and get rid of the rest of associates. The core locations are flagged as cheaper locals so even if you went you may get cut from a salary zone A to a C or so, which means lower pay scale. They probably wont be offering any relocation funds either. Anyway that is the future for 2019 and maybe 2020 also. In the meantime the majority of job postings are for Interns to replace to ones being RIF. There is also Legato the India based company that Anthem owns and is replacing all the current RIFs and future RIFs with and at much cheaper salaries. Good luck to all on the RIF hit lists. My boss got RIF last month, and mine and others just happen for this month. The deal is 30 day notice + 26 week package but coordinating with UE to pay up to max and Anthem covers the difference.

Don't know about layoff's in July, but we were told the workplace strategy is ramping up again and in fact some associates are going to find out within a couple of days if they are impacted. Basically given the hard choice to move to one of the IT core locations or be released and a decision they have to make within 30 days of being asked. Sad thing here is even if you do decide to make the move, there is no guarantee you will not be RIF'd in the future. Way to go Anthem ....

NGS layoffs last Thursday, a day after the Town Hall, in at least a few departments. It affected both WAH and office people. Terrible working environment from what I hear, and rumors the Syracuse building is more than half empty. Security was also let go.

Anybody may be laid off as they want to reduce costs. They can always find 5 or more people in India to do one onshore person's salary. Exec GM lied to folks and said she wanted to increase fulltime employees then turns around and lays off FTEs. The company tries to insult/criticize the FTE before they are laid off. It is a psychological tactic so the fired employee feels at fault even if their leads said they were doing a good job.

My question (as well as others i'm sure) is what departments are being affected...and if they'll likely be RIFing anybody in the Pega/NG area. To all that have been RIF'd or affected somehow, best of luck to you in your journey forward from this.

I'm still reeling from my co-workers getting RIF'd last week. I was doing the work of 2 FTE's, now the expectation is that i'll being doing the work of 3 FTE's... I'll either quit, die, or be RIF'd.
