Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Our Club is Done

I don’t know how bad the 2 week notices have gotten where you are all at but it’s to the point where our club isn’t going to be able to function once everything goes through. Not everyone has had their discussion but out of the 60 who have we are already looking a 45 notices to quit.

Kind of hard to run things on a block schedule that is good for the associates if they all quit and you have no applicants for jobs coming in.

Lol. This is funny. Everyone scheduled on registers that called off today lost a day’s salary and just got themselves 1 point. Some will use PTO time for the call off today, then later this year when they look at their PTO balances, they may which they would have just gone to work today, because calling off didn’t change one single decision that has already been made.

I know some of you think your are gangsters and are really screwing “the man” when you call off, what you really are doing is making yourself poorer, and adding to your personal reputation as a unreliable burden, not an asset, to the club and the company.

OP should go to work for CNN, doing polling services for November elections. So OP how did you get to talk to all 60 of the associates, 45 of which are giving notices? Allow me to answer that for you, you are trolling the board with such ludicrous totals of 75% of the associates quitting!! The ones that do not like the block they are on can go find greener pastures elsewhere, that just means the others who were staying but didn’t get their top choice of shifts or days off will inch closer to having more seniority, and can get that job that the 75% of others quit for.

Lol. This is funny. Everyone scheduled on the registers today called out. We had to have managers come in on their day off to cover and try finding more to come in.

Our entire overnight crew took the severance and ran. We were already short and couldn’t hire. All the team leads quit. 3 managers quit. Only one COS left. One club pickup who is looking to leave.

I guess this is a way to close clubs without the negative press.

We have 30 two week notices put in at our club. This is hilarious.

If you aren’t salary and work 40 hours a week, how are you complaining about work life balance? Figure it out man it’s not hard if it’s as important as you state. Just something to whine about.

Let’s just say the more people have conversations the more that we find out how stupid some of the changes that are coming are.

There are more job duties changing than have even been mentioned here

Yes it’s a job, it’s retail, been working it for 18 years. Love working for Sams Club. All businesses go through changes, it’s retail. If you’re not open to change you might need to get a different job. At our Sams we have what they call Sundayitus! People calling in because it’s the weekend. Sorry but if scheduling you on Sunday and you don’t show up it hurts other associates and the business. I truly don’t feel bad for those always complaining. Your there to work and go home. You get paid good money to do so! There are other jobs that can meet your hours of need Find it and be happy!

Yes. I agree. Hit them where it hurts on the one day event. Let’s all join. Wait until we see the 1st Q Sam’s share to post to paycheck before quitting entirely though.

We are going to do a walk out and quit all together on the 11th. Hope they enjoy no sales that day and think it was worth it. All clubs should follow.

What ever club you work at most of the ones saying they will leave are not thinking right, their letting their emotions control them. I don't think 45 our of the 60 will leave. Face it people need their paycheck and unless they have another good paying job lined up their not going anywhere. Sam's is use to a high turnover with it's workers. Do you really think they care if you leave, especially if you've been with the company a long time and are making a good wage? NO the don't care, they will hire more folks to replace you. So while you're struggling to pay your bills and feed your family's someone else will be making a paycheck.

Trust me if they want to give you sundays off they can. Found out one of our team leads will have Sunday off

Unfortunately I was planning on a career with Sam’s Club, it will not be happening now. Really upsets me. Closing all the time, working every Sunday. No family life work balance. Guess it doesn’t pertain to club managers in Market 33, they are changing their schedules daily for their families.

Not about church about family, it’s ok if you close a few nights a week. When you have children and can’t put them to bed, do homework, eat dinner I could go on and on. Thank god I’m not a single parent. There other ways you can reward tenure. This is just so crazy and favoritism at its finest. I’m just at a loss that they think this is great for the company. Oh well we’ll see how many people actually give a sh-- anymore. At the moment they got us, but you can bet people aren’t going to hang around.

Same situation at ours. Light estimate around people gone by the 22nd.

You are in the retail business . The company isn't gone to shut down for Church. Go to a later service. I think you knew when you took the job you need to be available and reasonable. Good luck!

I got AM shifts but am still quitting because it’s just too early and I won’t get to have sundays off for church. Such a sad state the company has come to. People were happy to work the Sunday’s that were part time and have jobs during the week. Why mess with what works

We are a club that picked up a lot of associates from a closed club near us and we just started to come together as team and this is ripping us apart once again

Same scenario here too. No one is happy. It’s going to be the final nail in the company that used to be a great place to work.

This one is on Gisel for sure. New guy could have come in and seen what was gonna happen but he’s a puppet of her nonsense. Just a different minority to parade around.
