Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Are the layoffs abroad an indication of new ones in the US?

Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t it announced last time that ford will be laying off at non US location and then a wave of layoffs struck the US based Ford workers? If layoffs should happen again abroad, is that an indication that a wave of layoffs in the US is in the making?

Separation programmes are targeting 5000 employees in Germany and 550 in the UK.

That's the bulk of it in Europe, if you consider Russia out of the FoE scope (of course there's also 3 plant closures in Russia so that will be a few thousands employees as well there).

For voluntary separations in Germany and the UK, it is meant to happen by end of Q2, but ongoing discussions with work council (union) can impact this timing.

Total workforce reduction estimates to be 20-30k world wide.

EU will loose about 5k, latin america lost about 4k. china and russia have already lost about 6k

I think the US will lose 5k-15k in the next round of cuts. This is similar or slightly higher than GM
