Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Xerox, just the latest casualty

This site is chalked full of boards saying exactly what Xerox people are saying. Mass layoffs, worst management, terrible morale, etc, etc.

Hint: It's not just Xerox folks.

The tide has turned on the economy and ALL corporations are s---ing wind, have been for a year or two but it's gone terminal now.

So if you think you'll go somewhere else for greener pastures, you're in for a surprise.

For 2ict, I think what 2plf is getting at is that a lot of 50+ people just give up and settle for early retirement. I don't know how the stats are measured, other than unemployment numbers (which run out, as we know) and possibly sampling data from recruitment firms. I know more than a few from Xerox who fit this profile. People who still had the energy and vision to make positive contributions to Xerox, but were let go as a result of the Icahn m---acre.

@YbrWL1K-2plf - That's a new one. Those "laid off due to age-ism don’t count in the unemployment stats."

So you are saying the labor department & ADP don't count old people if they are looking for a job and can't find one? So, I'm sure you think unemployement rates are calculated based on young middle-aged white men only.

Those who have looked have found it takes like six months to get a job. That’s not a labor shortage. Many laid off due to age-ism don’t count in the unemployment stats.

Try it- you’ll see

Agree Gov’t “fake news”.

Number of thise employed in tech or other high paying sectors is declining. You have to get past the headlines and read the reports to see this.

The unemployment rates in this country are at historic lows. Sure some companies are in dying industries like Xerox, but that isn't an indicator for the health of the economy. I moved to another company and we're still on a massive hiring streak. I decided to leave Xerox and landed a higher paying job nearly a week later. Some coworkers who were laid off took about two months to find a new place. That's all completely normal and healthy for the private sector.
