Layoffs happening as the keys to the company have been handed to the ballooning OCI organization. Nothing new in this story. Company falls behind in technology, panics, and then overpays some heavy weight with big reputation to come in and save the day. Oracle paid huge money for some Amazon folks to save the dying cloud business. Now the race will be, can these folks grow the cloud business with OCI before they run out of money and market share? Doesn't look good as they have made almost no serious in-roads and top leaders know this, which is why they have left (TK, AZ, and many more) There is no way that Oracle can compete with big boys building data centers and it will regret giving too much power to the OCI team. In the end they will build software that runs on AWS, Azure, GCP. Lot of pain (layoffs) until they reach that realization

TK, AZ were there building products nobody wants. It is the best news in the last 10 years that they left. MH needs to go next
My friend got sacked yesterday. Cloud Gen 2 is internally know as gen2-flect , where we genuflect before real cloud companies to keep dB revenue on life support
That’s unfortunately what you get when you have two greedy, incompetent CEOs neither of whom knows squat about technology.
Features in the Oracle cloud offerings are so sub par it is an open internal joke. The product messaging is a hot mess.
