Thread regarding CenturyLink layoffs

Who else is looking?

I'm curious - how many employees are currently so unhappy at CenturyLink that they are already looking for a new job? In my department I know of at least five people who are actively searching right now (and this includes me.)

So who else is trying to get out of here?

I am with you at almost 59. If this nightmare stays afloat till December I am golden. If they lay me off any time after July, I am still good. Hopefully this turd keeps swirling the bowl at least 4 more months.

The problem those of us trying to escape this hell now are running into is, everyone here reads monster amd indeed every day and when they see a job EVERYONE puts in for it.

I was worried this would happen as they shut the depts down and all the techs were looking for work, but it has happened already as people see the writing on the wall. My workgroup used to share job info when they saw jobs available but now, mum is the word because everyone is trying to get out. Even not sharing info you have anywhere from five to twenty guys fighting over one job. It s---s.

I am just as Ben Dover (hilarious, btw) described. Been here 33 years, numerous positions, and actually looked forward to coming to work, back as UTS, but now I hate it. I look at other companies constantly but won’t make there what im getting here. Will be 58 and trying to hang in until 59 1/2 then they can kiss my a$$ goodbye. I hear they are trying to take away severance so knowing my luck I won’t get the package. JS is a heartless and greedy SOB.

General guidelines. Buck up or move out. This is for all company and not just in CTL. If you are not happy.... ask why and if you think it's time to leave. Just go. Because it happens to many people. Doesn't matter which company. Be kind to yourself.

Twelve man CST group. Three guys already found other jobs and another just gave two weeks notice. No jobs back filled internally the bring in a contractor from some ACT outfit. The SRO says HR won't approve him hiring an employee.

Always looking, Centurylink is not the family friendly fun job it used to be, pressures and stresses are horrible at work. I’m one of those middle of the road employees, not new and not old but enough years to have quite a bit of built up vacation time. I’ve had many jobs in this company, moving around because of forced reductions over the years. I have never disliked this company as much as I do now, tiny raises gobbled up by health care increases and cost of living. Always keeping my eyes and ears open for better opportunities... CenturyLink doesn’t value its workforce and I don’t care who says what it’s the honest truth period end of story! Even the bosses apologize for the companies shat sandwiches that are being fed to us weekly.

I am anxiously waiting and hoping for a package. If i didn't need the money I would walk out and find another job. This job has become far too stressful and taking a toll on everyone's health in the office. Sitting behind a desk is not easy contrary to what many believe. There is a lot of pressure put on us and more and more workload every day. The stress is unbearable some days. Migraines, major health issues. Some due to inadequate air ventilation and poor conditions in the buildings we work in. Getting cussed on a regular basis by p-ss-d off customers. Being hand escalations one after another and told everything is urgent, and being expected to keep up with our regular work load which is usually urgent. Then sales reps escalate to directors getting us in trouble because they want theirs orders done. Everything cant be urgent!! WE ARE STRESSED, OVERWHELMED, OVERLOADED! And most are getting to the point that we jyst dont care about our jobs anymore! Its just a paycheck! Sorry for the rant but I'm STRESSED!!
