Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

More slash and burn- CONFIRMED

I talked about this before, but here is public confirmation for those doubters:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2019/03/26/dxc_security_spending/

The cuts in Security are just part of a broader $200 million in cuts.

As I said before, some of this is already implemented in the USA.

That's a pretty damning expose by El Reg.... again

The security staff I knew at DXC were always fed up with the inability to travel to client jobs; not having enough resources and unable to meet the client tenders. I through a lot of potential security work their way and had discussions about just getting a foot in the door, but no. Something about 'too much work and not enough staff' But it was routine low revenue work and not the huge potential that could have opened up if someone had just made some time. Anyway, I never got involved in the politics, I just saw the client go to third-parties instead who later became trusted partners.

I even recall DXC staff being told to do CISA training in their own time; pay for it themselves and to take book a day's holiday for their exam! Madness! DXC has never made it easy to encourage the individual to develop a career there or even to want to stay, once they got there and are absolutely useless when it comes to sales. They have one or two great sales folks (who don't work in sales, but know their clients and know how spot an opportunity) but are held back by endless 'red tape' and approvals that its a wonder anything gets won.

Clearly DXC has made its position clear over SC your salary and position won't move.

Just because DXC don't know how to exploit and grow that portfolio, doesn't mean you can't.

Did anyone spot a refutation by the company regarding CISSP etc...? Something like "All our front line delivery staff are suitably trained and compliant..."

How are bid teams supposed to submit with integrity? Bid markers read the press too!

If I was a client with data being processed by dxc I’d be pretty worried at what Iam reading in the press. It sounds like even the basic ISO 27k is falling apart there.

Security? Lol they can’t even stop the press attending their private conf calls! It’s a Mickey Mouse firm; laughing stock!

The only perk at the moment is being able to WFH. It's utterly amazing that those f**kers refuse to even pay for stuff like CISSP, CISM certifications, pretty standard for any big security consultancy to cover, since customers expect that kind of professional certification and involvement.

The article says it all. It’s not about the employees, it not even about the customers, it’s just about Wall Street and the Share holders. Nothing more, nothing less.

DXC customers have experienced major breaches and they have a bad name among security experts. The article did mention that the manager had only been here since August and seemed surprised by the decisions above him. He was definitely sold a bill of goods to come work here and is now getting his eyes opened. He will either quit or be fired in short order.

Who cares anymore , I don’t. I come to work each day and put in 8 hours where I am mostly in meetings and talk about delays and what people can’t do.

I get paid if I do any productive work or not. I used to care but not anymore

Coincidentally, I just finished reading that article. Here in the U.S., we haven't had pay raises in 7 years - not the 3-4 years mentioned (former EDS, HP, HPE). That twit acted surprised to hear about out-of-pocket certification training, and old laptops. I'm waiting for some major virus to infect multiple clients because of their efforts to continue this absurd cost cutting.

I suspect that a L4 Security manager will be having an uncomfortable day - getting much worse when the CEO gets into work.
