Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Once again hurt the workers pocketbook

Marvin has it wrong. Sales Specialists are told their percentage increase and then corporate comes along changes it to half of that. Instead of taking Lowe's woes out on the workers in the store, why don't you clamp down on the abuse of overtime by the sales floor superivisors/previous service managers or why don't you cut back on the huge bonuses of the store management. The sales floor supervisors work thirty to forty hours of overtime weekly for no reason while the other lower level employees are trying to follow the "no overtime" rule. As it is, we can't pay our bills on Lowe's wages. You increase the cost of health insurance by hundreds of dollars a month and only give a few cents an hour raise. You expect us to lift heavy items all day and permanently injure our bodies for pennies on the hour. The whole scheduling thing is also ridiculous. Lowes isn't like normal retail where the employees are just putting a few clothing items in a bag, etc. We are using heavy machinery and loading heavy stuff into people's cars plus pulling orders, etc. Don't you think that when we never get more than one day off at a time then accidents could happen and people could get hurt from workers being exhausted. Oh wait....That is your whole goal. You want people to get hurt so they are out sick and then you will fire them. You want an accident to occur so then you will fire them saying they did not follow the rules, etc. Lowes is nothing but a sweat shop and the treatment is abusive. If you aren't already working at Lowes then keep on moving past it. You do not want to work in a company who does not value its human resources. Marvin should give up some of his millions of bonus instead of messing with the hard working employees.

I don’t have a problem with the kid in the the wheelchair. I do have a problem with the lazy asses who do nothing their entire shift getting the same raise as those who work.

Corporate said they needed to cut at our store because the budget was too high. The store manager told us our percentages were slashed and it has nothing to do with performance. Seriously Lowes does not give raises on performance as they just have a set amount or at least in the stores I've worked in so everyone gets the same percentage regardless of whether you work or are a slacker. We all know it is favorites who get promotions or positions but no matter how much you s--- up, they still only want early 20's with no management experience who will not ask questions but just follow. Kind of like how Lowes follows instead of leads. If you have worked at Lowes you will know that it is not the deserving or the experienced that get the positions. In the recent wave of hiring for sales force managers, our store chose to hire outside the state or from Home Depot. Guess what, they are all lazy and hide in the office just like the others. There are stores that are run differently I am sure but this store is a mess.

if supervisors really do get 30-40 hours of overtime......and you are an awesome specialist....then why havent you made the smart decision to kiss a little rear if need be and get into one of those positions!!!

So...What? Are you complaining that you only got a 25 cent raise this year instead of the usual 50 cents?

If you got less than 3% then that is because you s---., Everyone was approved for 3% this year but store managers have the right to take some from others to give to higher performers. Once again a employee blaming their failures on everyone else. Step up or step the F^&K out.

Maybe some specialists didn’t earn a raise so they didn’t get one.

At my store most of the specialists leave the floor 10 to 20 minutes before the end of their shift for their final break. They claim they need to do this so they don’t get trapped in to helping a customer.

We do have a few specialists who will linger and wander the store so they can leave early on Friday.

More and more it looks as if the management is clueless.

multiple specialist on the facebook have just said this morning they got 3% raise and can see it on this weeks paystub.....so i am truly interested in where the truth lies.....some claiming specialist had their raise cut...others saying they got theirs as expected.

lol....violation of your rights to be heard?? under that logic you violated my rights to be heard too then!! lol.... actually i presented an "either-or" statement. essentially suggesting either youre exaggerating out of anger or where you personally work is completely broken. never used the term "stupid" anywhere. and no...lol...dont work for "corporate" nor am i the super villain in your life "marvin". im not even in store management! just understand that not all stores operate like that. in the store i speak of....most full timers have opportunities at overtime during the busy season and overtime for all is kept in check to reasonable levels. the sad thing is i believe lowes to be very messed up for many many reasons....its just that i dont agree that all districts operate so poorly.

First post is 100% true and it IS poor store management and it is very broken. This has gone on for years so get over it @Yh0ocI1-fjj. Overtime from management is abused and then all of a sudden about half a year through the store manager says no more overtime but the only people who were allowed to work the overtime were managers. This has been going on long before sales floor managers or even service managers so obviously someone isn't looking at "flags". I am an excellent sales specialist and I can do the math, that is why I am bringing this up. Maybe you corporate trolls should get someone to check into this situation across the stores instead of making dumb changes that have no real effect other than destroying lower level employee morale further. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to belittle people on here when someone is just telling the absolute truth. Lots of corruption and good old boy club in Lowes where things that shouldn't be accepted are overlooked. If you don't have anything helpful to say without calling someone stupid then maybe you should refrain. Your response is a violation of my rights to be heard without being falsely judged or called names Marvin.

lol......30-40 hours a week in overtime??? they'd be making just under what store managers make. if you are a sales specialist... you must not be a very good one to not be able to do that calculation and realize it would be flagged very quickly OR your store and district is VERY broken. supervisors are scheduled at 40 hours and the only reason theyd get even a few hours of overtime every week is because theyre directly dealing with an issue. if youre store manager and district manager is worth their salt they get pretty hawkish with anyone who puts in too many hours of overtime a week--and we are talking 3-4...not 30-40. be upset about your raise if you feel youre worth more. but attacking fellow wage slaves is counterproductive. corporations know theyll never have anything to worry about because people at the bottom can never properly agree on what the problems are. stores will always savage themselves in the end in desperate attempts to save themselves over the group. id be very worried about being a supervisor and accumulating that much overtime.....youre putting a serious target on your back.
