Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Training our replacements

I tried to keep a positive outlook on this "re-badge" announcement, but yeah....do the research and think. HCL's intention is to learn the process, reduce the amount of "re-badged" Xerox/GIS employees by having us train our own replacements, and shift the cost of business to a lower bracket. Get your resumes going, folks!

Oh...and it's not "re-badging"! You've been terminated with a temp agency cushion.

Excellent point by @YfqVUxD-2miv . It was definitely worth reposting.

I hate to say this, but HCL isn't worried about the quality of work that's currently being done in GIS. They have a set of requirements they have to meet, and that's all they will do. They will not go "above and beyond" like someone from GIS typically would.

To be honest, I'm not even sure Xerox Sr Mgmt is worried about the quality of work. They just wanted to offload the headcount and expense to HCL as part of their strategy to sell. By the time any problems with the HCL arrangement start to show up (Billing issues, Admin issues, etc) there will be a new owner of Xerox.

I agree ojx, if they can bring someone in and do the job I do today at the level I do it at then I will pay to see that, never going to happen with the quality I bring to the table. The problems I deal with everyday sometimes make my head spin and I've been doing this for years. If I have to train my replacement I may have some fun with it and get very creative, haha

Shrug.

They can make me train my replacement. They can't force me to imbue competence or comprehension in my replacement. Based on the know-how demonstrated in the conference calls, I'm not too worried, LOL. I've got decades of know-how and hands on experience, you can't pass that on in a few months to people that can't operate a WebEx.

But yeah, I myself am looking.
