Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Is this even legal? --- your lack of response will be considered a decline and voluntary termination from Xerox

---Start HCL Email Body----------------------------------------------------

It has been brought to our attention that you have not submitted a response to HCL regarding their offer of employment.

Please respond to * (HCL HR Representative) at ***@hcl.com prior to 12:00 (midnight) this evening. Otherwise, your lack of response will be considered a decline and voluntary termination from Xerox. Your last day of employment with Xerox will be April 5, 2019.

---End HCL Email Body----------------------------------------------------

** This doesn't really seem legal, but maybe somebody out there may actually know.

Hum... HCL is saying this to a Xerox Employee "If you don't decline our (HCL) offer, we will decline it for you and you won't have a job with Xerox or HCL" .

How does Xerox get you off their books without firing you or lay you off?

Do you suppose your already an HCL Employee and don't know it, so HCL is going to fire you?

Any thoughts?

Ethical? No.

Legal? Don't rely on advice here.

It is legal however much we all may hate it. Get over it.

I'd call an employment attorney instead of waiting for a reply on here.

Just sign it and respond by the deadline. Then look for another job. Xerox made a deal with the devil and you will be out of a job if you don’t respond.

Good luck to you.
