There are store closing in the north east. Anyone know the severance details.

Thanks Verizon

Same severance as everyone else. Just like the contract says.

Yeah the DM in the Buckhorn and nearby stores had been an issue. He hung on by a thread, doubtful he will stay or be asked to stay for very long.

Has anyone heard anything about the difference in severance?

"No the Buckhorn, PA location did not meet with CWA. They do not want union"

Oh, you went with us?

Do you even work at the Buckhorn store? Who is the manager there? Which Solutions Managers are still there? Which ones have been let go? After we talked with some of the reps at other stores... Perhaps we, idk, changed our minds since then.

Yeah I'm glad I came back to read this.

Only mall locations are closing. Larger locations will remain open and welcome applications from reps. Represented or not, all reps may reapply in open locations.

The Brooklyn, Everette and Hazelton employees asked for representation, verizon has committed to follow the request and open it to all employees. They try to keep it fair. Verizon extended the landline severance package to all reps as well. They asked for more but Verizon settled with the CWA for the enhanced package.

Our location, Buckhorn did meet with representatives. However we stopped because the Wilkes-Barre store had pulled thier petition last year. Selinsgrove stopped as well for now. We were promised change and Verizon has yet to deliver. Our DM has not been relocated per our request and we are still asked to preform shady sales practices. Our management team is pressured on a regular basis. Our director was relocated recently. Hopefully our NEW director will listen. Although there is pressure to keep us quiet, the fear of job loss.

No the Buckhorn, PA location did not meet with CWA. They do not want union.

Laurel Mall (Hazelton)

Stroud Mall

Wyoming Valley Mall

Those are the very small mall locations that are closing and union or not, they all have a chance to reapply within the same zone.

You guys are profitable too? They would never close your store?

It's in thier contract, they have effects bargining.

Per HR, directors, anti-union personel, Dms we were told we are "ill informed" that stores are going to close.

Even if that was the case, the reason we get any severance is it's in union contracts. They don't have to offer it to non-union employees. Plus a while host of other goodies.

Case in point, local store in PA was told they are closing to and to reapply outside of thier district if they wanted to stay. Fast forward to now, the union contract states they have to reapply but they can stay in the current zone.

This was now opened up to all employees.

Once again you are ill informed. The union gave up the right to effects bargaining regarding severance.

We should stick to what we know about facts.

More than likely Union and non union will get the same amount.

Reason being is that the union negotiated for a better severance a few times. Verizon can't offer a difference in severance. So they take the bargained severance and opened it to non-union employees. So thank Laurel, Everette and largely Brooklyn for your better severance. Verizon doesn't have to offer severance but it's part of the union contract. So unless they want a neon sign that says vote union they cover themselves with union lead ideas.

If you want a better severance or better anything vote in a union, with multiple stores is the message I believe the "facts" poster was getting to. This way you have power.

On the flip side, there aren't a lot of union employees thanks to Verizons union busting tactics. However the reason why At&t has a board of reps to argue commission is because they have a union. The CWA, and IBEW are a lot more than severance.

Or trust the company. They told us how profitable our store is. Now we are closed.

At least the Oath guy got multi millions in severance. You should all thank him for the smaller cut.

Oh and he had a contract, something Verizon doesn't want you to have. So either band together for each other. Or become a top guy screw up the company and let everyone below you pay for it.

For the record 8 union stores.

1 is being closed in a low sales group

  1. One closed because the mall they were in fell apart into a sink hole.

  2. Rest are doing fine.

Union employees get effects barginning as well. The severance union employees was better than non union employees (Scranton). When they got better severance payout so do did non union employees. Which means union employees got the better severance, so did non union employees so Verizon wouldn't look bad.

Verizon like to to twist facts.

Verizon in the union awareness page what is the sign on cost to the CWA?

Besides $0. You all say it's $2,000.

The actors union pays that.

For those of you that care about facts. Here is exact contract language "Members of the bargaining unit shall participate in the employees severance pay plan, applied in the same way as it is applied to similarly situated employees"

Similarly situated employees are non-union employees in the retail stores in the north east.

So yeah. Exactly the same. And the union agreed that they can't even bargain a change.

The VZW HR person who responded on here left out a few details. The severance that CWA asked for became the norm. There is a history of the CWA asking for items for it's union employees. Verizon than shoots down the request and later revives it for it's union and non union employees. So yes, normally everyone gets the same. You have the union to thank for the better severance offers.

Btw 8 union stores. One closing because it is part of three mall locations. The other closed because the mall literally collapsed.

Good try though HR, keep spinning the facts because you are afraid of the CWA helping wireless as it did wireline.

So chances are if we join either unions we can get better perks?

This why landline is happier?

Have to talk to talk to my people

Everette (Union) didn't get the same as another PA location in Scranton (non union).

That's per the reps and the paper work.

Union stores get the exact same severance. No better or worse. It's in the contract and union can't do any better. Yes union stores close. So far there have been 8 unions stores total. Two have been closed and one is closing. Brooklyn stores have closed. Same severance.

Does Brooklyn survive store closings because they have multiple union backed stores?

I hope Verizon gets sued for union busting and has to pay a hefty fine.

Mall stores in Hazelton and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Isn't there a third one?

Hazelton paper says they voted yes on the union. We heard they are getting a different deal, better deal.

I heard of a few stores closing as well in NY & PA. Everyone seems silent over what stores though. This would be a reason why I see now..
