Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Mr Thomas

I am just glad tony got his bonus while the ones that retired at the beginning of the year did not get there lump sum pension as they were promised. Screw the ones that make his 2 million bonus possible.

"Great job team so glad to have his leadership"

Frontier or Centurylink can hire TT to speed up their eventual Chapter 11. At least he has a needed corporate skill!

Sounds like the people reading Stream - they don't know what to believe anymore from the 'leader' of a bankrupt company.

Simple facts - TT and the BOD lied to the public and employees that the company was doing just fine.

Simple facts - Many loyal WIN employees lost a ton of money because they believed the BS that TT was spurting out about how the company was doing great and blah blah blah.

Simple FACT - The entire Executive Team - TT, BOD, Zombie Executives need to be held responsible - but they will get bonuses and a nice pension instead.

Good luck in this year's Chili cook-off...

Probably more like the Board of Directors doesn't want somebody who will slice and dice the company - and the BOD would be part of the cuts. With this cushy choice, it is business as usual, and the bankruptcy court will go along with it. Plenty of CEO's with Chapter 11 experience can be brought in to bring this company back to what it once was, but clearly that isn't the motive here.

Just a few words that jump out from your reply. No way am I affected by the "Kool-Aid" that so many use to label those that do not 100% agree with opinions like yours. It's simple, really. I can see the direction TT wants to go, I can see the mistakes that have been made in the process and hold him accountable. I am preparing to leave but there are a myriad of factors that need to align before I am ready to make that move. It is much more complex than "durrr. TT is a crook and takes nicer vacations than I do."

Do you realize that the BoD does not rely on the income generated by WIN for their livelihood? This is one of many projects they are involved in, you could almost call it a side-hustle. But yeah, they will lose an income generating source if/when WIN is sliced and diced, as you put it. Another poster on another thread pointed out that the BoD bears some responsibility for this situation, that is something to look into and I do not have enough knowledge to opine on the BoD responsibilties regarding bankruptcy.

What part of any of this makes you believe the bankruptcy court will go along with 'it'?

'Plenty of CEO's with Chapter 11 experience.....', dear reader, please understand that I did not indicate there were no other qualified CEO's that could do the job. I simply stated, in my opinion, that finding someone that is qualified would cost more money than the guy we have now. It's that simple, not defending him or succumbing to the Kool-Aid. Look at it like this, the BoD approaches Joe the CEO about taking over. Joe says to himself "these guys are in a bad spot and approached me as a better solution to what they have now. Yeah, I can do it, but you are going to have to pay, big time." So the BoD goes along and the next thing you know, people are complaining about Joe the CEO getting a huge sign-on bonus and excessive compensation for a failing company! What has he done to deserve this!?!

The company ran up huge debts before TT took over. Wasn’t it pretty much on the endangered list already?

As on outsider looking in, the previous CEO looked to clever and c---y for his own good (or the company’s).

Not saying TT is a good guy, just trying to understand the whole story

"Pretty much boils down to a situation of it's better to keep him and move the company forward than find a new guy willing to take a bankrupt company. How much will you be willing to take the helm at windstream for? I doubt you could find a qualified ceo willing to take the job at this pay rate, so TT might actually be a cheaper option."

I'm definitely not defending TT with this information, at this point he is possibly the lesser of many evils. Replacing him to avoid the current situation should have happened a year ago. And that does not guarantee that the new guy could have prevented this situation. Financial change does not happen fast at this level, TT's couple million bonus did not put the company in financial dire straits.

Here's some information to explain why he got the contract renewal and bonus. Someone please explain to me how in any other business if you ran the company into bankruptcy that you would be out on your a-- but TT gets a bonus and contract extension? I did not graduate from Harvard business school but I do know that you shouldnt get rewarded for tanking a company with piss poor decisions. If this was survivor you would not only be voted off the island you would have been voted to be the first to be eaten by sharks you miserable peice of sh--. I bet he reads this board and is so arrogant that he laughs about the comments the actual working people make on here since hes so far removed from reality. Maybe he needs a psych eval because we all know hes VERY narcissistic. Sorry this is so long but this really pisses me off for him to act like nothing is wrong while alot of us will end up losing our jobs
