You know what we do really well? Do blog posts about how the job is about more than the money. Easier said when you made $7 million in 2018 and meanwhile the majority of the company is struggling to get measly raise. For a company that’s all about squishing people into tiny matchboxes to save the dollars, they sure didn’t feel too much pain paying themselves (the CLT) $22 million!

Having ambition is the best way to get promoted at CVE and saying that means you will be moving to management. If you were to bet on yourself because of skills, intelligence, natural leadership ability, technical abilities, a fundamental working knowledge of the business, qualifications, and the like, sorry you’re not CVE management material. We can tell from your post starting with a vague negative argument not pointing out why or where a mistake is made, you are of questionable intellect. So keep up the ambition! You’re going places with CVE!
Benefits and comp aren’t bad now but they are cutting comp to small groups of people all the time. Just wait until you check all the boxes for losing pay like all the employees who lost the f level pay.
Out benefits and comp are pretty good. Just useless mgmt. and a union won’t help with that. That’s why people are leaving whenever they can.
I don’t like unions but I can give you advice on how to get ahead kiss DZs a55, tell him how wonderful and smart he is, and surprise, you’re instant mgmt. it’s how most our mgmt got to where they are. It sure wasn’t actual leadership skills.
Oh ok. You want a say? You care about your future. Do you know anything about unifor or how a union works? You want to be stuck as an operator for life? Fill your boots. Some of us have ambition and want to move into management. Not everyone just wants “to be protected”. I’ll take my chances and bet on me.
@-3duc not everyone who speaks against the management style of our executives are working for unifor... I'm sure if you talk to pro-union folks at Cenovus they'll tell you it's not all about compensation. But I'm guessing you've already made up your mind about that. Are benefits and compensation all you care about in a job? If so, you probably love it here where some people do half the work for twice the pay. Enjoy those golden handcuffs. Some of us would prefer to have a say.
Lol. So many unifor people on this site trying to sway people. Unreal. Our compensation and benefits are unreal. To everyone who doesn’t realize this ask some other operators at other companys in industry. This is laughable.
No risk, all rewards. It's like a Russian oligarchy where if you listen and play nice you get paid, and if you challenge the status quo you're either going to get publically axed or slowly poisoned until you go quietly.

Like it or not, el Lardo get paid well regardless. But if he got fired, it would make his 2018 pay seem like chump change. Just ask ol Ferguson boy zooming around in his race car.
It’s pretty easy to not be about the money when you’re a millionaire, how tone deaf is that. Did you write that from your Calgary mansion or from Hawaii? I haven’t had a raise in over 5 years, my property tax is rising, the carbon tax, insurance, mortgage, food costs and on and on. Cost of living up 2-3% per year while not getting raises year over year and I’ve lost about 15-20% buying ability with my take home pay. But it’s not about the money. This is why our CLT supporting the Olympic bid went over like a lead balloon. People are struggling to pay mortgages with lack of pay raises while you guys still roll it in. Instead of a people strategy how about a cost of living increase. No wonder they’re trying to unionize, and I don’t even like unions, but I see why they’re doing it.
Not about the money. I call mega BS! Ya I read the post. I mean he’s doing a lot in trying to turn the ship around but man the condescending nonsense is starting to get a bit much. And there’s really only 2 DRs I have any faith in. The others are plain clueless.

Seriously. Whose workload is likely to have remained the same over the years? The CLT. Who gets more work, less compensation and told on a regular basis from the CLT that people need to be team players? Every other employee, contractor and staff member. No wonder the company is in shambles. Get a grip, stop thinking with your wallet and start making decisions with peoples best interest in mind. It's not rocket science.
It’s not about the money sure. As long as they make their money it’s all good. No raises for years and years but yeah they’re making millions. Ask yourself how much your RSUs are worth, zippo, nadda etc. If it’s not about the money why didn’t they take a 20% pay cut before laying off so many people.
