Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

HAL Hunger Games!

Happy Halliburton Hunger Games, may the odds be forever in your favor.

Have you thought about your RIF survival strategy? Time to be proactive and take control of the situation.

Sponsors: Ha! Your sponsor probably was eliminated by M.R. or MillerTime. Unless you're a MillerLite it doesn’t matter who your sponsor is, ask everyone about R.S.

EAP: time to fess up/start up a coke problem and get some time off to take care of yourself

EthicsHotline: time to report all the bad bad things mgmt, HR, peers have been up to, remember it’s anonymous

Volunteer: if you’re an older HAL hand you might as well volunteer because they are coming for your old butt because you are expensive and stuck in your ways. If you volunteer at least your ESPP will all vest and you’ll get a better package (even better than the enhanced plus that usually doesn’t show up until round 3-4 of layoffs...which most old people don’t make it that far)

Da-Nile: it can’t happen to me, I’m special and there’s no HMS process that can replace me...plus I exceed expectations. Wake up buttercup, HAL is a machine and needs no one except for routine sacrifices. They could lay off your entire staff and not skip a beat, they will pull in people from out of area to cover the work. No one matters at HAL, no one. It’s a machine. No one matters, individuals are not valued, everyone is simply a warm body and is instantly replaceable.

Get laid off: Use this cycle to better your personal career goals. Spend majority of your working hours talking with 3rd party job recruiters from LinkedIn. Get a good gauge of your market value and start interviewing. Naturally you’ll get an offer just about the time some HAL HR loser tells you “your position is being eliminated”. Awesome! You’ll get paid out up to 10 weeks of checks and now you start the new adventure.

Yes, I used to be HR at Halliburton during the 2008 reductions, which is why it is so frustrating that people post incorrect information that people may actually believe. Volunteering for a reduction is the equivalent of resigning so be very careful as the company could just accept your resignation and you’d be high and dry...no severance and no unemployment check. And even if they gave you the reduction you are not entitled to anymore severance or ESPP vesting than anyone else that is reduced normally. I’m not saying politics don’t exist I’m just saying you’d be better off finding the policies online (which all active employees have access too) before making a decision.

HR is ruining HAL with the following:

Hiring

(Inability) of firing

Obsession with diversity/protected class

“Inclusivity” Whatever The F that means

BS procession mgmt (who to replace you)

EDL compliance

Liberal nonsense

It’s incorrect because there is a lay-off policy and everything said is wrong
