Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

For those that want Exxon, Chevon, etc...

Are you serious? Do you have any clue how it would affect you? If you are wishing for a buyout and think your are safe, then you are those that will be the first to be cut when a Major comes in and "really" clean house? The majors have people in placed already doing the exact same thing you are doing so what do you thing they will do? Cut their own people and keep staff from a company that under performed? When I joined Pioneer, I swore that they were full for intelligent worker but since I been reading the comments, I see exactly why the company has gone down is because of ignorant people thinking the grass is greener on the other side.

You people are the reason why Pioneer failed. You don't speak up and love a daddy figure to tell you want to do and bending you over and taking it up the a--.

@YxFuYdA-2drt I have typically witnessed those things come about days before people are physically let go. We have some weeks yet. But I'm not holding my breathe either.

Pioneer is doing it’s damnedest?

Wow spoken like an ill informed person! Pioneer did this because the people at the top didn’t listen to reason! They didn’t hear the bells go off! They certainly allowed for waste in the most negligible way (“cuz that’s how we have always done it”).

If they actually gave a damn, why didn’t they do like other Companies who provide transitional services like resume assistance and job search services. Many companies provide these services for a full year after a major layoff like this one. Did they? Nope.

I'm the OP and I can actually get a job easily. Been either exceeding or TP last five years. I have no worries. My post it's intended for all those that want to be sold because you people are the reason why pioneer is where they are today. No loyalty and only looking out for yourself and never did anything in the best interest of the company.

I have seen so many people that made decisions only for themselves or they little group of friends that gives them an short term rewards but in the long run hurts pioneer.

This is still a great company and I'm willing to keep it that way and I'll continue to do my best for the greater good of pioneer and those that still believe until they force me out. I been in previous company that have been brought out and its not good.

I’m ready to be bought out. Sell my shares at a premium. Take my severance. Start the next gig. Repeat...

The original poster has no marketable skills and does not believe in him or herself. Sometimes it takes a dramatic change to make people move! So Chevron or Exxon come on in. Give me a severance and ill find another job. The pioneer we all knew and loved is gone! TD destroyed it.

Buy outs are only bad for people who aren’t employable. Packages are usually very generous. Those complaining are simply fearful because they know they’re currently making an overinflated salary for their skill set, which is a huge problem at PXD. If you’re a value added person with a skill set, you can do well with a generous package and then just get another job! Problem is now most of those complaining will actually have to WORK.

The ones on the thread asking for a buyout are investors trolling sites looking for inside info

I was on board with this comment until you started blasting workers for wanting stability. Labor, whether it be field or office, is used, abused and thrown out in this industry. Pioneer is trying to keep its head above water while still providing for the individual, and that's why I still respect Pioneer.

The reason to NOT want a buyout is because even metrics won't save you when you're the company being eaten. I have seen so many here blasting other divisions, when at the end of the day we're all working class people here trying to survive. There's no shame in wanting stability or wanting to see the forest despite the trees, and I still feel Pioneer is doing their damndest to still provide for the most people possible, which is becoming rare in our industry. Everyone ALWAYS thinks it's some other department, or some other position that's at fault, and yet the truth is none of us know exactly what someone else's job is, or how many extra hours they stay at work, or the schedule they work, or even the people at home they provide for.
