Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Slow death with trickle down layoffs

I've never seen anything like it at corporate headquarters. The feeling around the office is people on edge, or at minimum, feeling who will get the next hammer. I was in a seemingly regular meeting with general announcements where our department head got let go ("position was eliminated"), my manager's peer was eliminated, and so many reorgs in a short period. We are hemorrhaging cash with Aetna and CVS, our stock price is trying not to drown, Amazon's pill pack, .... blah, blah. I get it. I think we all know that at some point they will do a massive cut and it makes no sense to make massive labor cuts multiple times. When that is, I don't know. It will be at a point when the synergies and maximum efficiency opportunities are 'understood' so action can be taken. I just am hating the constant one-offs of key people, at least in my orbit, getting let go. CVS got us here with Aetna and didn't probably understand all of the other pressures while they try to figure this out. So stressful!!!

Agreed. It is very stressful. Unfortunately most of us believe the cuts to labor hours and eliminating positions is still not over. It is going to get worse. I'm sure when our 2020 budget comes out we'll see another cut in labor hours in stores. I was at minimum hours last year and thought "ok, at least it can't get any worse." Wrong. Now I'm at 196 and next year it will probably be closer to 188. I'm not sticking around to find out though. The only people they want managing the stores are people with no lives, family, or friends, so that they can spend every waking moment working. No thanks.
