Optical going 3rd party

Hearing a lot of talk this week about us getting bought out again. Managers having a meeting on Friday... any one heard the same?

So here is the truth: yes homeoffice has been in negotiations since last year to make optical 3rd party. Problem was that most of them were lacking in sales and profit. So they started using this “so called” interested party as a supplier. Cost, along with prices were cut drastically. The idea was to compete with online and grow the business for a year. Well, that has not played out so well. Instead of 3rd party you will most likely see them closing the department in certain clubs. The plan was a flop.

To all those saying optical does so much or it’s so hard, it comes down to perception of the position. Many people don’t see when you do have a dr running around etc what they do see is you sitting, on cellphone, shopping, eating etc etc.

As for block scheduling. Maybe a handful will leave, but most wont. It’s a company and if you owned your own company you would try different things, maybe. I don’t really care either way. It’s just a job. Get a hobby because a job isn’t one.

Meeting was about them changing the block scheduling. The company is in such chaos they can’t even commit to a change before it rolls out. They have zero respect for the employees anymore. It’s all a power trip. They think they snap, we move. People leaving after the block announcement and they are realizing nobody wants to work for the company anymore.

To everyone that thinks we just sit on our behinds needs to take a look at our P&L and see how much profit we are bringing into the clubs, especially now with our new prices and high margin profit. So we do our part for Sams Share. There’s SO MUCH knowledge to know to be able to work in our area, we deal with pr-scrip-ions daily, and have to troubleshoot, a long with knowing the retail side and goals for the store. To you it might seem as if we’re doing nothing but behinds the scenes, half of those judging wouldn’t last here.

I don't think we're going third party but I do know GMs are calling us in the office telling us we are going block schedule and to pick your days however from our market manager they were not supposed to do that so I'm not sure on that. Third party has been talked about for years. For everyone going off on optical because they sit on their butts maybe where you are but when we're not busy I'm doing door breaks, running, running self check out, helping on the floor and while doing all of this I still manage to get patients that come buy eyewear from us. I'm not happy with these changes going on either, before anyone tells me to go somewhere else I'm trying but when your in a certain age group the calls don't come in as much lol, however we just need to help each other because management or HO doesn't give a sh-- about us

Opticians in our state must be licensed by the State to do our jobs! I don’t think that stockers need any degree or license to do your job. I dare anyone else to come into the Optical department and do what we do RIGHT! I’m sorry but my department made A LOT OF MONEY for your SAM SHARES and you have no clue what we do.
