Thread regarding Academy Sports & Outdoors layoffs

It does not make sense

To work this hard only to see daily negative comps for reasons I and my peers can’t affect is soul crushing.

We all know where the problems are. The refusal of leadership to acknowledge and do something about it, and continue to expect more with nothing, is insulting.

There is no coming back from this. We’re literally relying on a credit card and BOPIS to save us. Bravo, leaders. Slow clap for that.

FTS. I’m out.

@Z5FkRUs-6tbj It obviously isn’t one of yours either. Hopefully talking badly of others makes you feel like you are making up for your own incompetence. You are so awesome you can’t get a better job.

Omni channel!!! It is a corporate divider when a company can truly become omni channel they will succeed. Now each area wants to take credit for their own side of the business. Why do they not communicate sales including the online side? I once made a suggesting, when asked specifically for suggestions, to have a computer up front for customers to price check and make it easy to match prices. This was ignored. Customers want to be confident they are getting the best price. Take an aggressive stance on price matching!

Get lucky for 1 year at Footlocker and you are a retail genius? How much does that new robot interviewing software cost? So it screens out half the 4 people that apply for a position. Wow must take a Harvard grad to come up with this idea. Just because someone wears tennis shoes with a suite doesn't make them smart.

Sad post from someone who is obviously a store manager. If you wonder why sales are so poor here's why.

I agree, we are expected to perform Miracles with little staff. Hours have been cut so bad that our Team members can not get the job done. Expected to hire PT team members and give them five to ten hours a week, you really think you are going to keep personnel that way, it's a revolving door.

I don't know that the credit card is the answer either. We have to have accountability for our team and to many times we get mixed messages of no don't hold them accountable because we can't afford to loose them, to the extreme of if you don't hold them accountable you will be written up.

Its a lose lose situation

Yeah, I am sure you single handedly made all that happen. Gold star for you!

You mean all the “old timers” who worked there when sales were great, morale was high, store employees cared, and bonuses were plentiful...but were pushed out to make room for all you “rain makers”?

Got it. Slow clap for you too.

Instead of complaining here, do something about it and leave. It is no one’s fault but yours at this point. It is not new hires fault (from my experience, old timers loved to blame and throw them under the bus, causing very talented potentials to leave or try to get fired), not leadership’s fault, not the economy, not retail industry, etc. It falls on you to take action. You go anywhere else, you don’t get to act that way, so start practicing now.
