I swear, it makes me sick when I hear that term. Using that term to make the mass exodus and uncounted number of cuts is an all time low, even for this leadership. The only thing smart about it is that they screwed the very people that built this company in today's sense, real smart.

The overpromoting still happening as of last week. Massive overpromoting happened as “leaders” scrambled to increase their direct report ratio in the lead up to smart reDesign.
Agreed about the over hiring and over promoting. Hackett focused on these issues from the start when he appeared in the video with the red head HR representative. Management has been creating all kinds of new positions and building fiefdoms ever since 2009. Business unit I work in has a ratio of 4 employees to every one direct report. Left unchecked it would have spiraled out of control.
Ford likes to pay money for a name to let people go. How stupid. At least GM and Chrysler kick your a-- out without hiring some over priced consulting company to name it. Ford 2000, and the c-ap before it. How about another one bites the dust. Sorry. It happened to the Detroit Lions themselves.
How about rightsizing? Downsizing? RIF (Reduction in Force)? Furlough? Pink slip? Can?
All joking aside, I feel your pain. I was agency that was told last Wednesday night on my drive home that it was my last day. I worked in FMCC.
Call it what it is - being fired. I always hated the business speak they come up with to make a firing more business acceptable. Probably alleviates some of the guilt.
Lol there's way too much fat to trim at Ford (same with GM). It s---s but the real blame should go to those who were part of the decisions to recklessly overhire. It's obvious there's a lot of deadweight at Ford right now and there's no way they can afford to keep up with this without layoffs. The buzzword stuff like smart redesign is mostly to avoid lawsuits.
