Thread regarding CVS layoffs

Retail Business Strategy at CVS Investor Day

This occurred back on June 6, and in reading President Kevin Hourican's comments.....he nailed one thing, and that is that "the Pharmacy Industry still faces challenging headwinds", and 2019 will continue to be a challenging year, as the FS Managers already figured out, from a "profit" growth perspective largely due to an ongoing shift to consumers spending online. Really, you don't say?

I believe, and correct me if I'm wrong that these Health Hubs will take some time for consumers to become adapted to, if ever, as it is a cultural change in the way customers think in terms of taking care of their health. And, I believe that someone, at the top, has been drinking way too much Kool-Aid. When a Company moves away from their core beliefs in serving the customer, they normally fail. Do your research.

Minute clinics are a joke. I went for something simple and they were more worried about pushing vaccines on me than attending me.

I think our minute clinics give outstanding service per NP.

But they are operating under CVS version of Retail Healthcare labor expectations.

Most last maybe a year, get experience and move on to better lifestyle of no weekends, no holidays, noone breathing down your neck on 15 min of OT.

Cant imagine a clinic being profitable on 20 patients a day.

You hit the nail on the head about the cultural change. We are asking Americans to put trust in CVS as their health care provider instead of traditional means. Here’s the thing, we piss off many Americans every day with understaffed, understocked, mediocre stores not to mention the horrible service in our Minute Clinics. MCs are currently the bar customers can judge our ability to care for people and we s--- at it. If they can’t trust us for the minimum expectations one would have for a pharmacy retailer, we would they trust us with something even more personal such as direct health care? I have long believed corporate is way overplaying their hand here. You can’t simply go on the Today show and declare yourself a health care company with no history, experience, or reputation in that space. CVS is convinced that they will will because of the customer convenience factor. Health care is personal to people and convenience is not high on the priority list when people make their decision on who will treat them.
