Cliques K--ling WFM

After over a decade of happily working at WFM, I’m out. I can no longer stand positions being given to who kisses the most a--, or who’s besties with whom. Promotions used to be based off skill set, your track record, and a history of your accomplishments. Ever since Amazon purchased us, now it is all about who’s in with the cliques that are in power. All decisions are now made through a top down approach, which would be ok if individuals at the top knew what the hell they were doing. Unfortunately anyone with an EC,RV, or RVP title wouldn’t know how to wipe their own a-- if someone didn’t walk them through it numerous times.

The best way to work at Whole Foods is never buy into the hype. I worked there 14 yrs. It's an illusion. I bought into the hype. They want tms to believe the food they sell is better than other stores so they can charge higher prices. It's all the same food just different packaging. A long time ago, a corporate person that I liked and tried to do a good job, pulled me aside and said, the best advice I can give is....this is just a grocery. No better, no worse than any of the others. I thought he was awful for saying it. Looking back it was the best advice I ever got at WFM. Don't buy in...do your job...go home. It's just a grocery store.

Lol it took u 10 yrs to realize that or were u just on denial? I’ve worked at different stores n it was the same on all. Ive seen people w less skills than a trained monkey get sup atl tl astl or stl because they buddy buddy w someone higher than them. But the hard wrkng “quiet” “keep it to him/herself” is not qualified just because they dont have a “relationship” w upper management. Still goes on till this day. My store just promoted someone who was an atl for 6months n has no clue of how to run the dept but because s/he can have a “relationship” w the stl that person got the job.

My comment was removed too. It was true. There are protected tms that get promoted and not written up for absences and mistakes because they are in leadership cliques.
