Thread regarding Resideo Technologies layoffs

They also just screwed their entire sales force

So the entire sales force was just notified they have 48 hours to start paying for their company cell phone personally! What an id--tic move. Today their cell phone is the single most important tool they use as an outside sales person. Resideo has decided that they don’t want to pay for them. Talk about kicking your entire sales force on the balls. If they do t get the phone switched in 48 hours, the numbers will be turned off. So no customers will be able to reach them! And oh, so nice that Resideo just did a move of all our outlook email, contacts and calendars to a new app and managed in the process to delete everyone’s contact lists too, so as an example my 15 years of building contacts is gone AND my customers can’t call me because Resideo is turning off the phone number they all have. Smart. Completely disconnect your entire sales force from your entries customer base. That ought to help sales! What a dumb l, dumb set of actions by Resideo. I thought Nefkin was going to be good for the new company. Not looking so good now. I wonder if chairman of the board Roger Fradin knows what is happening to the company?

If this is how Resideo is going to operate, it might be time for employees to seek unionization where ever possible. I wonder if there is a union that would be interested in Resideo. Any ideas?

Yup it did happen. I was given my IPhone 4 as a “gift” and bought a separate plan from my personal family plan and got $40 from AT&T as a trade in. “I” paid for an IPhone 10R and $90 per month for unlimited plan BUT did not buy the “unlimited hot spot plan” for $50 extra per month, thus since I am a mobile, and productive sales employee, I cannot utilize my IPad or “currently Resideo owned” laptop to be a fully real time mobile outside sales employee.
I’m already out $50 per month out of pocket. Okay, no big deal right? But the hot spot plan will cost me $50 per month more, while Resideo gives me $40 dollars total? Havent had the time to check my last 4 paycheck stubs to see if I even got the $40 bucks.

Meanwhile, I continue to get info from my competitors about how many more Resideo layoffs and outsourcing jobs are taking place as I speak.

HON knew what they were doing. Filled all Resideo executive positions with tired old HON mini executives and SOMEHOW saddled the new Resideo entity with $100M plus in repayments back to HON yearly to fulfill decades olds environmental litigation lawsuits that the Resideo divisions had nothing to do with. Who the H signed off on this?

How did the Original Resideo investors glance over this stupid 10 year payment plan back to HON with 60% of Resideo being a low margin distribution business?

They all knew what they were doing, including Cote and Nefkins.

Who is Resideo planning to sell to?

12tmp - wow...a 7 year old phone as a gift (too cheap to ever upgrade and only gave out "new" phones 3 revs behind current). You HR trolls really need to try harder. You cant put a good spin on shutting off phones and making people use their own at the risk of privacy (entire IT org has access) and losing personal data if they decide to wipe it.

Also, I have gotten a ton of calls from suppliers and customers asking "whats going on over there"..I'm trying to call XXX and their phones are all disconnected. Makes us look like a great organization.

Incorrect! At least tell the truth here. Folks were given 30 days to decide to enroll in byod or not and btw...most outside sales and acct managers will get a monthly stipend via payroll to help pay for their service plan AND if they had a corp phone, resideo gifted the phone to the employee...free phone! Given plenty of time to update customers and save contacts if you decided not to enroll.

I'm not in sales. I looked at what the management software is capable of and just said No.

I agree that the OP needs to make sure that their facts are straight, but also think this is an example of decisions that are made by people that don't understand the business at all. The salesperson's cell # is the primary contact for customers and if the company doesn't control that and continues to make poor business decisions they are going to have long term people leaving with the only hotline number that customers have. I think there will be additional cuts made in the short term to lower costs and I think they have to do that because they can't deliver anything to help drive new business. If you look at Nefkens history, this shouldn't surprise anyone.

If this mobile phone plan is factual, it kind of reminds me of the British mine owners during the 18th and 19th centuries. They made the miners buy their own candles (often from the mine owner's store) so the miners could see underground and do their job digging out the coal/tin for the owner!!

So many incorrect facts and lies with this original post....I don’t know where to begin. Are you intentionally lyinG or is your reading comprehension THAT abysmal? Lastly, you’re a fool I’f you don’t have backups of your contacts after 15 years.

Read the email again. They have until mid-July not two days. Be factual. It's still a dumb thing to do

Just don't make it seem worse with fake dates

At least when Hon tried this they gave exceptions and there was an actual plan.... I have heard the brain trust is planning a BYOD for laptops next (being serious)

btw...when you question this their answer is you can buy the phone and the service and pay for it yourself if you don't want to use your own device. sure, ill take on additional personal cost to protect my privacy and the data on my own device.
